Padmanava College of Engineering, Rourkela Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college has separate hostel accommodation for gents students, particularly for outside students who are available nearer to the college. Intending students shall inquiry in advance from the Superintendent of respective hostel regarding the availability of accommodation either in 1st year / subsequent year and prepare accordingly. A student may be permitted on the application in prescribed form during the beginning of each academic year to get admission in the respective hostel with his/her parents or local guardian at Rourkela. Students permitted to stay outside the hostel ( after taking admission in the respective hostel )are exempted from mess charges only and may be entitled to the refund of the mess advance if paid at the time of admission. Each student in order to complete the admission in any of the hostels ( i.e. Gents / Ladies hostel ) has to select a local guardian at Rourkela who may be contacted in time of emergency. The name, full address, both office and residence, telephone number, designation, and willingness of the local guardian have to be furnished at the time of admission in the prescribed format.

The college has efficiency, both mental and physical, is an absolute necessity, it should not only be developed but also maintained. Students in this Institute are being helped to combat and prevent the impending psychometric maladies and serious physical disorders. To take care of emergency medical requirements, IGH, the Super Specialty Hospital is situated in the close vicinity where both staff and students can be admitted in case of an emergency, Besides, the college has appointed an experienced Doctor who periodically visits the college and the Hostels, and gives necessary advice in case of minor ailments.

The college has a Gym facility for the students.

The college Library has a rich collection of books. At present, it has 33,374 books on different subjects. There are 3775 titles. The library, to keep pace with the latest developments in various engineering fields, subscribes to International Journals, Newspapers, Periodicals, and Magazines. There are 82 National International Journals and 18 Magazines subscribed by the College. Apart from this, the Central Library is in the process of becoming a part of an Online Journal subscription; thus students and faculty will be benefited immensely from this facility to have access to the latest information and research activity taking place all the world over. The Central Library is going to be automated by Barcode Generator Software, which will help in Stock entry, Stock Taking, and Circulation, etc.

The college has constituted a Sports Cell which is directly monitored by the Professor and Head of Training Placement and Students Affairs. With the aid and advice of qualified and experienced coaches and sportsmen, various outdoor and indoor games are conducted that keep the students physically fit and mentally sportive.

The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.

The College, communication, interaction, and monitoring system must be improved. Therefore it was decided to convert the College into an e-campus through WLAN (Wireless Local Area Networking), which uses radio waves to communicate among devices. An access point (AP) with an antenna is physically connected to a conventional wired Ethernet network and Servers as a bridge to the wireless network. Wi-Fi WLAN also supports communication among the client systems, allowing the devices to communicate directly with one another in a peer-to-peer fashion. Up to approximately 150 feet, a Wi-Fi 802.11b WLAN typically can deliver broadband performance with a signaling speed of up to 11 Mbps. Actual performance depends on the signal pattern and the number of walls, floors, and other architectural obstacles in the area. Wi-Fi 802.11a WLANs can achieve speeds of up to 54 Mbps within a somewhat reduced range.
