Placements in iit kanpur are quite good , nearly 85 % people got placed and the highest salary package offered was 72LPA . The median salary lies generally between 10 - 12 LPA .  Many students got internships in top government agencies like NASA , DRDO , etc.
While talking about iit bombay , placements nearly reaches upto 100% and the highest package offered was 1 crore .
Average salary lies generally between 14-15LPA . Students got internships in boeing , airbus , general electric , raytheon , etc.

I think this year, after Round 6 of JOSAA Counselling, IITK will contact you via email and give you respective information regarding registration and fee payment. Most probably your identification and registration procedure, induction and initial classes will begin online by November mid. However as IIT KGP has planned, new admits this year might be allowed to visit campus in specific slots for certain formalities, hall allocation and campus tour, this December, subject to Covid 19 Conditions and transportation facilities. You want comparison between two different branches in different IITs. It's a little difficult but I will try my best to provide you much needed information.

IIT Bombay:
It has 3rd ranking by NIRF. It is a top institute for engineering and dream college of most of the aspirants.
Getting metallurgy branch can be tough through jee advanced.
Faculties are Ph.D holders and experienced.
Placements are no doubt very good with a median salary of 11.78 Lakhs. For metallurgy brance companies which offer placement are Micron and JSW.

IIT Kanpur:
It's NIRF ranking is 16.
Going for civil engineering will be very beneficial here as the learning is very great. You can gain good knowledge of civil engineering subjects and go for competitive exams such as IES.
The faculties are excellent at teaching and have good knowledge.
Placement opportunities are no doubt very great. Median salary has been 15 Lakhs. But these placements are maximum for non core branches and very less for core branches such as civil. Although GAIL is one PSU coming for campus recruitment.

For students belonging to SC, ST and PWD categories must secure a minimum of 65% of marks in their class 12th board examinations or they must be from the list of category wise top 20 percentile in their respective class 12th equivalent board examinations for JEE advance. To get Bsc in IIT KANPUR last year's cutoff was 74.31 for OBC category and 78.21 for EWS Category.. This years cutoff and other details are given in the link below

If you loved Kinematics, Thermodynamics, Mechanics and Physics in your JEE Days, and have interest in Core Engineering as well as in modern technologies like Machine Learning, Manufacturing and Operations, Automation, UAVs and Self Driving Cars you can choose IIT K ME. You will basically land yourself in a sea of opportunities, including Core and Non Core/IT/Finance Opportunities.

In case you want to pursue a circuital branch, IITG EE too has an excellent potential to nurture your career and transform you into an excellent professional. You must know the fact that curriculum of Electrical Engineering at IITs is one of the hardest in India. Choose EE if you loved a lot of calculations, algorithms, circuits and have interest in modern technologies like IoT, Analytics, Electronics , Robotics and Machine Learning. You will have options to go in Core Electrical, Electronics and Analog Design as well as Machine Learning/IT/Software fields.

Frankly Speaking, opportunities are more in Electrical Engineering but the whole IITK Brand overweighs it. Choose wisely.Perhaps choose the Institute which is at your vicinity as prospects are more or less similar.

Dear Aspirant,

Go with the CSE, at Kanpur/Kharagpur. I would suggest IIT kanpur as it has a more robust coding culture and a tech culture overall.

You can easily travel to Kanpur from Chandigarh, as Kanpur is well connected city. The reason I recommend CS at IIT Kanpur is because computer science is the best branch when it comes to placements. Moreover, CS is also the fastest growing engineering branch with many big companies hiring for the CS engineers.

Both IIT Roorkee and IIT Kanpur are one of the recognized colleges of India for pursuing Mechanical Engineering. Due to the NIRF Ranking, placement statistics, and College values, IIT Kanpur is one notch better than IIT Roorkee for pursuing Mechanical Engineering.

Firstly it depends upon your interest of stream you want to pursue further but if you want to compare then i think nsut will be better in terms of placement and as well as there is a huge scope in computer science nowadays
Av. Package - 7.75 lakhs in nsut.
But there is an iit tag which every student wants and electrical is one of the core branches and average package is 7 lakhs in iit kanpur.
So the last choice will be yours to decide based on your interests , so choose wisely.
