hi,
see bsc course on data science is the newly program launched by iit madras., students who have dropped from their graduation or currently pursuing any bachelor course are eligible to apply. however it would be an distance learning program,
The program is split into three levels that have to be completed strictly in sequence:
1: Foundational Level (8 courses)
2: Diploma Level (6 Programming courses + 6 Data Science courses)
3: Degree Level (11 courses)
however as per the official brochure there is no mention of compulsory placement. also there is no mention of projects, course is divided in several parts and you have to qualify the exam to get the certificates of each step. this course is best for those who are working professional or in any other course pursuing want to join for learning and further careers growth.
Dear Aspirant,
This is a new course and placements are yet to be seen, however, the field of data science is one of the most promising field in the computer science and engineering and you can therefore expect good quality placements.
As for the actual figures can not be given, average pay of a data scientist is approx 6-8 LPA. Hope this helps.
Thank you.

Hello Krishven,
It totally depends on your interpretation of "get into". If you just want to get into any available branch then getting a rank around 9000 would do.
If you want to go for best (rank wise CSE branch) than rank around 1100 is a must. Around 2000-2500 you will get into some good departments.
Now your second question, i would tell you about the JEE advanced because it creates the main difference.
For general category, around 50 % marks will get you some decent branch . If you want to take CSE in old IIT’s you should score around 70 % marks. For electrical,ECE and other top branches,60% will be good enough.
All the best!!!!
Hello Priyanshu
IIT madras has been ranked number 1 in NIRF 2020 but BSc Data Science is the first ever BSc course(that too in offline mode) offered by this prestigious institute and it is the first year for BSc to be taught here hence it is impossible to say how the course is yet and if they will have any placements for this subject. Till now there were only BS+MS courses in biological science and physics but none for Data Science. Since the placements in general are really good in IITM it is expected that the placements for Data Science will be good too. All the best.

IIT Madras is one of those places you hear about and imagine high-tech labs, brilliant minds, and a campus buzzing with activity. The library is huge and has pretty much every book or journal you could need. Hostels are decent, though some are better maintained than others, and the campus facilities like canteens, sports grounds, and Wi-Fi are reliable and student-friendly.
The infrastructure of my college is well-developed and student-friendly. The campus is clean, green, and spacious, providing a pleasant environment for learning. Classrooms are modern, equipped with smart boards and projectors that support interactive teaching.
