IIT Madras is top engineering institute in India. It provides hostel facility for both girls and boys. The college has guest house/waiting room facilities for visiting faculty and student family members. The hostels are administered by warden appointed by Director of the institute. The hostel fees is approximately 30,000 per semester.

IIT Madras has good placements for computer science engineering course. The college has reported more than 90% placement. More than 65 companies visited the campus for recruiting students from CSE branch. The placement package ranged from 9.1 Lakhs to 133.05 LPA.

IIT Madras is one of the top engineering college in the country and is recently been ranked number one in the government ranking of colleges, NIRF.

That being said, cse is one of the best engineering branch, with top placements, higher than any other branch. The average placement in the cse branch is about 15 lac per annum with the highest package around 150,000$.

There are a facility of single rooms and double and triple rooms, however, in the first year students will not get the single room. They can get a single room from the second year onward. There are approx 20 hostels in the IIT Madras.
