Dear student,
I am not so sure what your exactly the question is. Are you asking that the syllabus of first semester in NIT Calicut is interrelated to intermediate syllabus that you came across in 11th and 12th?
If I am assuming wrong then let me know in the comment section.
See, yes, some of the syllabus are interrelated to 11th and 12th, for example there will a subject called 'Basic ECE' , in this you will have the same semiconductor syllabus in first year with little upgradation and then in Mathematics too, you will find many things similar.
If you will have chemistry then there too you will find similarities.
You can check the full first year B.Tech syllabus of NIT Calicut by going through the link below which is officially released by NIT Calicut.
http://www.nitc.ac.in/academics/ug/syllabus/B.Tech_First_year_Syllabi_2010_Admission_onwards.pdf
How if talk in brief then below are the subjects you will be going through in first year.
Below I am mentioning the major syllabus part of Computer science 1st year.

Dear student,
I will try to answer this question.
See, NIT Calicut is one the top engineering college of India and also if we talk about top NITs then NIT calicut is one name under that list.
To check everything about this college in detail, i will recommend you to go through the official website of this college.
Below I am mentioning the link of that website. Please have a look there.
http://www.nitc.ac.in/
Now coming to your question, that how good is this for Civil Engineering.
Well, it has all the required infrastructure for civil engineering, labs are well-eqipped, and latest machines are available.
Now there is a brutual truth when it comes to campus placement, Civil engineering has little lower edge when it is compared to branches like Computer Science and Electronics and communication. And in this college has no fault, it is just because the demand is little lower in market but still there are lot of other fields for civil engineering and specially if you want to study through cracking GATE, and lot of government jobs options.
But still this college maintain a fair placement ratio for Civil Engineering and companies like SAP, Oracle, ABB, Bajaj Auto, Cisco , etc. visit this college and it has average package above 7 lakhs per annum for this branch.
I hope this answer helps you.

Hello,
If you are looking for a better college to choose among the both which you have mentioned than i would say that NIT Surathkal is the first of the students due it’s records and also it is one of the oldest and famous NIT in India. Now in terms of ranking also NIT surathkal has ranking of 44 where as NIT Calicut has a ranking of 66 which tells that NIT surathkal is little higher. Hello Aspirant,
Since you have not mentioned your category so considering it as General.

Closing CRL rank for NIT Calicut was :-

Hey aspirant,
You should choose only that branch in which you feel you are comfortable with. Because of course you won't want to waste your four years of life in studying something in which you are not interested.
Also, the colleges are preferred on the basis of one's priorities.
However if we see the placement statistics of both the colleges then highest package offered by svnit is 39 lpa and average is around 4-6lpa.whereas in Nit calicut the highest package offered is 50 lpa and average ranges around 7-10lpa.
So, on the basis of placement statistics I would suggest you to go for Nit calicut but as I mentioned above the choice should be totally yours.
Hope it helps
Good luck.

We are having good lab facilities, xerox shops, but in hostel canteen facilities are not there. There are canteens in campus, but inside hostel, canteen facility is nill.stationary, xerox facility is there , also study rooms, common room facility is good. But wifi may trouble sometimes ????
One of the largest engineering colleges in Kerala build a long time back standing out in infrastructure and a large campus. Classrooms are big enough to accommodate the large population of students, especially the first year classrooms, seminar halls and auditoriums are the finest. Regular maintainance of living spaces keeps it clean and tidy. Food is good offering us to try a very vast variety of cuisines across India all in one place.
There is not a single facility or infrastructure that I cannot find in the campus. Well equipped and well maintained. No issues with hostel food or hostel services or anything of the sort. Wifi available in almost every spot.
