Hello student,

If you prefer college instead of branch, then Production engineering/biotechnology in NIT calicut is a good option. But if you prefer branch over college then CET is better. If you are getting Production engineering/biotechnology in NIT calicut, there are even chances that you might get a better branch in other NITs. I suggest you to check other NITs where you can get a good branch. Not only NITs , you can apply to IIITs and GFTIs. i suggest you to take a look on the following links -

Hey aspirant,

You should choose only that branch in which you feel you are comfortable with. Because of course you won't want to waste your four years of life in studying something in which you are not interested.

Also, the colleges are preferred on the basis of one's priorities.

However if we see the placement statistics of both the colleges then highest package offered by svnit is 39 lpa and average is around 4-6lpa.whereas in Nit calicut the highest package offered is 50 lpa and average ranges around 7-10lpa.

So, on the basis of placement statistics I would suggest you to go for Nit calicut but as I mentioned above the choice should be totally yours.

Hope it helps

Good luck.

Hi Rohit,

Let's carry out some quick comparisons:-

NIRF rank

  • NIT Calicut - 23rd
  • MANIT Bhopal - 65th

Average placements

  • NIT Calicut :- B.E /B.Tech -  8.05 Lakhs , B.Arch - 6.20 Lakhs
  • MANIT Bhopal  :- B.E /B.Tech - 6.50 Lakhs, B.Arch - 4.20 Lakhs

Facilities:- Almost similar

As per the details mentioned above NIT Calicut is better than MANIT Bhopal in every single aspect but you will have to leave your home state so that is the only advantage in MANIT Bhopal.

As per my advice, NIT Calicut is best

Hello Aspirant,

Getting admission into NIT Calicut for B Arch depends upon your category and percentile rank alongside other things like no. of students appeared, exam difficulty level , seat availability and previous years cutoff trends.

Seeing your rank, it is difficult to say whether you would get admission into NIT Calicut or not. Since, the cutoff varies and changes each year ranging from 400 to 1000 seeing and considering previous years cutoff trends. For students coming under home state quota, the cutoff is usually lower than that of others.

You can see the previous years cutoff trends of NIT Calicut given below,

Hello there,
Congratulations for your rank!!
As per previous records the cut off rank for cse at NIT Calicut was 3542 for home state and 1553 for other states(for male)
Now cut off rank of NIT Calicut depends on many factors like total number of students appeared for the exam, number of seats available for the particular branch, number of questions asked in the exam, previous year's cut off trends, etc.
So going by the previous records your getting a chance in cse department there is quite less.
If the cut off rank increases then you might get a chance.
But don't worry.
You'll definitely get other branches like civil engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, electronics and communication engineering, mechanical engineering, production engineering, biotechnology.
So hope for the best.
I'm providing a link for further analysis.

College Infrastructure

One of the largest engineering colleges in Kerala build a long time back standing out in infrastructure and a large campus. Classrooms are big enough to accommodate the large population of students, especially the first year classrooms, seminar halls and auditoriums are the finest. Regular maintainance of living spaces keeps it clean and tidy. Food is good offering us to try a very vast variety of cuisines across India all in one place.

Top of the line college
