Hello,

Doing B.Tech in Metallurgy from NIT Jamshedpur is a good choice. The faculty are good and they provide the appropriate content. There are plenty of opportunities in Metallurgy and some of the top companies like TATA, Vedanta steel etc visit the college to recruit students. The placement record in NIT Jamshedpur is good when compared to other NIT's. But you should work hard and make use of four years and gain knowledge. So, metallurgy is a very good choice as it has a lot of scope in the future.

You don't need to show OBC certificate or Income Certificate to avail benefits of home state quota.
The state from where you did your 12th board exam is your Home state quota by default.Since, you did your schooling from Jharkhand you can get seat under home state quota.

NIT Jamshedpur is better than NIT Silchar in terms of placements, environment. Both the campuses are good but you prefer NIT Jamshedpur as it has better faculty and placement opportunities provided by the campus.
