Hello
Government colleges in West Bengal have limited lateral-entry seats for Chemical Engineering, so the cutoff ranks stay quite competitive. Jadavpur University usually closes below 300–400 rank, making it the toughest to get. KGEC’s overall cutoff is around 70–225, but Chemical Engineering data is not openly published. Other colleges like Haldia sometimes take higher ranks depending on seat availability. Overall, your chances depend mainly on your JELET rank and the counselling round.

Admission Possibility for SC Rank 21,423 in Government Engineering Colleges
Based on the
2025 JEE Main cutoff trends
and JoSAA
closing ranks
from previous years:
SC Category Cutoff :
Qualifying cutoff : 61.15 percentile for JEE Advanced eligibility.
CSE/ECE : Highly competitive (e.g., SC rank <10,000 for top NITs)
Civil/Metallurgy : Wider rank ranges (e.g., SC rank 15,000–40,000)
Note : Exact admission depends on seat availability, 2025 competition, and choices filled during counseling.
Hello
With 42.9 in the 12th standard, getting admission in Kalyani Government Engineering College might be difficult, as most seats require minimum passing marks and better scores.
Your GMR of 23,375 and SC rank of 2,117 could help under the SC quota, but the cutoff varies yearly.
In the last round of DEE decentralized counseling, seats may be limited, so admission is uncertain.
For Calcutta University, admission depends on the specific course and cutoff, but generally requires higher 12th-grade marks.
Both institutions have minimum eligibility criteria you must meet, including board pass percentage.
You should check official counseling notifications and cutoffs for the current year carefully.
HELLO,
YES, a SC rank of 2117 and GMR of 23375 increases your chances of admission to Kalyani Government Engineering College in branches like Electrical engineering , IT or ECE for the SC category. Most probably , you have much better chances of admission , possibly in later counselling rounds
Your SC rank of 2117 will be a strong factor of admission into KGEC under the SC quota as it is well within or better than the typical closing ranks for desired branches in the SC category
You can get seat in these branches ( IT,ECE and Electrical Engineering ) in later rounds as seat becomes available for SC candidates after initial rounds
Keep an check on the official cutoff lists for KGEC to see where your rank stands compared to previous year
Hope this Helps!
With a JEE Main rank of 686,220 , it's very unlikely to secure admission in competitive government engineering colleges like Government Engineering College, Bhavnagar or Government Engineering College, Ajmer , where even the least competitive branches have closing ranks in the hundreds to low thousands —for example, IT at Bhavnagar had closing ranks around 22,332 (All India) and 34,161 (Home State) in 2025
Recommendation: You’re more likely to find seats in state-level or less competitive government colleges through entrance exams like GUJCET or REAP (depending on your state). These options may include branches like IT or EEE and typically offer affordable fee structures. Consider using tools like the Careers360 college predictor to explore affordable colleges with realistic cutoffs and good placements
If you're going for the Special OJEE round and you're from the SC category , a safe rank for getting into a government engineering college would be anything around 1.6 to 1.75 lakh or better . Honestly, even a bit higher than that might still get you a seat—especially in branches like Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical , since they usually have seats left in the special round.
These rounds mostly fill up leftover seats, so if you’re okay with slightly less popular branches, your chances are definitely there. Just make sure to lock your choices smartly and don’t wait till the last minute.

My college is spread across a 300-acre campus, and the size itself becomes a major advantage for any technical institute. The large area allows proper separation of academic blocks, hostels, laboratories, and sports facilities without overcrowding or noise interference. The engineering blocks are equipped with standard labs, updated machinery, and the basic infrastructure required for practical learning. The spacious classrooms, projectors, and decent internet connectivity support day-to-day academic work, although the efficiency ultimately depends on how seriously students and faculty use them. A campus of this scale lets the institute maintain multiple workshops, research spaces, and departmental buildings, which is useful in engineering education where practical exposure is non-negotiable. The library has enough room to store a wide range of books and digital resources and provides a quiet space for focused study. Sports grounds, indoor game areas, and open fields give students breathing space and encourage physical activity instead of being stuck in cramped buildings.
E very pathetic you will not see any good infrastructure in this college so forget about anything that you planning to have in this college so forget about anything sports interest they do not have any sports around and that's not talk about infrastructure
College infrastructure is quite good here, with all modern equipment available, wifi , smart board all facilities are available, they are well maintained as well, food is hygenic and good, classroom are good.
