The college has best infrastructure containing all the facilities like library, Canteens, sports grounds, recreation areas etc. The campus is spread across 66 acres at deccan. The construction of the campus can be traced back to 1890s still this campus had all the new generation facilities like smart boards, projectors, computer labs, digital library etc. The hostel needs upgradation because the hostel blocks are too old. Hostel does not even have Fans. Except hostels everything is perfect!
I completed my BA in psychology from Fergusson. I opted for Fergusson because it is a renowned institution all over India especially for psychology. The teachers are knowledgeable and experienced. The curriculum is curated by college academics committee itself so it is updated unlike college's who follows university designed curriculum. The lectures happen everyday and attendance is not compulsory for some lectures. We also had practicals particularly for my subject.
College needs to improve a lot in order to provide better placement opportunities to for students especially those enrolling for BA program at Fergusson. According to my knowledge very few students in my batch got placed through college placement cell. I could not find any better placement opportunity through college so I found job on my own. Don't expect much from college placements, you will just get around 3LPA if you are doing BA at Fergusson.
The fees are too affordable. I completed my whole degree in just 30,000. If you belong to reserved category then you can claim refunds of the fees upto 70% of the total amount through various schemes of state and central government.
I went to college everyday and my only motivation to go to college were my friends and the college campus. The campus is so beautiful you will not feel that you are in the middle of the city. It is so calm and green like a small village.
College is very beautiful. The classrooms labs libraries are in very good condition. But the hostels no so much. I remember in 1st year when i wanted to take the admission i was told to bring everything myself the bed the lights etc, like the basic things that a hostel should provide, when i talked to the girls living in hostel they suggested me to choose a hostel outside the campus for same reasons , and i would suggest the same as well. For food you have 3 canteens and all 3 of them are amzing
I pursued BA Economics as Fergusson college was a well redeemed college. I joined in 2019 and my 1st year was amazing the teaching as well as for the non academic part of it. But in 2nd year due to covid a lot of teachers left, and after that except for 1 or 2 teachers all of them were lazy and were not teaching the way they used to. This continued in the 3rd year as well.
In my 1st year i heard that some amazing companies came for placements for the 3rd year students, so naturally i expected the same in my 3rd year, but i dont know what happened but the placement cell was very unresponsive and the internship/job that came they were mostly of HR and other psychology major related. The offers we got were of sales and marketing mostly, and some were of RnD. I did not want to go in any of these, but those who did got placed very well.
The basic infrastructure is pretty good and well maintained. All though the classes and the benches in the old 'historic' buildings have been the same since 1990's and could do with some renovation. Even the hostel needs a complete makeover as it is the same as it was back in 1990's. The library is well maintained and was one of my favorite places on campus.
I graduated with a Bachelor in Arts with a specialization in economics. The curriculum is pretty up to date but it could do with some practical knowledge. As for if the course makes me job ready? For some entry level job, yes. The quality of teaching is good.
Placements were very few as the demand for bachelors (Arts) fresh out of college is minimal. The highest salary package was 4-5 LPA. Not the best but not bad either. The process itself was fairly simple and the college was supportive.
I have never seen such a mesmerizing campus than Fergusson college campus. The college has vintage touch with modern facilities. There are gardens on the campus. Students usually spend more time in canteens than classes because canteen has very delicious food. You will find dustbins in each and every corner of the campus. Campus also has a big library with thousands of books. There are some hangout and recreational spaces as well.
I studied BA (Psychology majors) at FC. I finished my graduation in 2022. I chose FC because of the reputation of its psychology department all over Maharashtra. The faculty is very intelligent and supportive in your personal problems as well. The teachers are so friendly and approachable, they are always ready to help you. The curriculum is very interesting, and it also includes topics like field visits and compulsory internships.
Scope of placements for my department is much better than other departments. Our department gets better placements every year. The average package is between the range of 3.5-4L. Students mostly go for higher studies rather than placements, but some choose to work as well. I was hired as an HR executive by a famous company, and I will work there for some time and after 2 years I am going to pursue higher studies.
Best college, The ROI is much better than most of its competitors.
campus life is just amazing. Better than any other colleges in Pune. Everyone is friendly and there is lot of diversity as well.
Best college in Pune
The college has an exceptional infrastructure, featuring an attractive campus with colonial architecture and impeccably clean living spaces. Every classroom is equipped with smart boards and the library building is well maintained and it also has fee access to Wi-Fi and a computer lab with more than 50 computers.
I studied BA economics at Fergusson college. The academics are quite good because you get to choose your course in two languages- Marathi and English. All the teachers are well qualified with few exceptions as well. The faculty members are highly supportive. Overall, the academic experience and curriculum, coupled with extra curricular activities, contribute to a well rounded educational journey.
To be honest, people in my divisions got no placements because we were a Marathi division and companies mostly prefer candidates from English medium divisions. We did not even get a chance for appearing inn placements because of the language barrier. English medium gets few placements every year with a descent package but Marathi medium division hardly gets ant placement through college. The administration needs to improve this situation and should not discriminate with students.
The fees are very affordable. As low as 3-4K per year with various scholarships. But some courses like computer science and environmental sciences, biotechnology can go upto 40K per year because they comes under self financed courses. BA courses are quite affordable for anyone.
Campus life is amazing. No college in Pune can match the vibes of our campus.
The infrastructure is outstanding. Anyone can fall in love with the architecture of the college. There are separate washrooms for boys and girls in each corner of the campus. Almost all the buildings in the campus are wheelchair accessible. The classrooms are big. College also has facility of playgrounds for different sports and cafeterias with delicious food menu.
I studied BA in economics and graduated in 2021 from Fergusson college. I chose Fergusson because it was ranked in top 20 colleges all over India in 2019 NIRF rankings. curriculum is better than most of the colleges in Pune because college has eminent scholars for setting up the curriculum and they edit it every academic year as required. The faculties are quite experienced and well qualified. Some faculties have got national level awards.
Placements are not that great but if you try your best then you can get good a placement. I had appeared for the placements but could not qualify the criteria. 9 out of 40 of my batchmates got placed in different firms with packages ranging from 2.5 LPA - 4.5 LPA which is a descent amount of money for a BA graduate. Highest package offered in my batch was 5.2 LPA. We had a WhatsApp group for placements where we used to get each and every update. All this was done virtually because of COVID-19.
The campus is remarkably expensive in terms of size and offers a wide array of facilities. These include fully equipped labs, playground, gymnasium, tennis court, basketball court and a spacious library filled with numerous books that meet the syllabus needs and cover a diverse range of subjects. Also the classrooms are spacious and gives harry potter vibes as it is a 125+ years old institution.
I am doing my masters in psychology The teaching quality at this institution is good because of our qualified faculty members. The curriculum is regularly updated to meet current needs, incorporating many practical subjects as well. What we study in the classrooms makes us job ready.
The placements are average. My seniors were placed in few firms with an average package of 4LPA after completing their masters in clinical as well as industrial psychology. College needs to improve the administration of placement cell to create more opportunities for students.
The college needs to update it with recent equipments and technology. It has traditional blackboards and projectors aren’t in a working condition. This hampers the learning methods for students and other creative options in teaching.
It was good academic wise. Grant section has the best teachers. I was in non grant section hence I didn’t have a very good faculty. Most of the teachers had little or no experience of teaching which was a drawback.
I didn’t have placement opportunity per se because I was a bachelors student. However, from what I’ve heard is that the placement opportunities are minimal and not great which leaves students to look for their own.
College infra has been renovated recently and looking very fine. Plus it has become art of the sate kind of institution having such a great historical significance and being a heritage site makes it unique.
Academics are great with wide and very diverse curriculum covering all the aspects a graduate must have. Teaching staff is also very good and helpful. Overall we can say good quality of education is definitely provided.
Placements are decent enough not to great or not to low, we can expect a basic pay package here like 5-8 LPA but extraordinary things might happen too. But seeing the education quality there’s always an upside in terms of career.
My course was roughly 15-13k per year, thus very cost efficient as compared to other colleges in Pune. Definitely can say have got worth of my money here and have experienced the best of my college life.
College campus is very attractive and well maintained plus being a heritage site adds the historical angle and makes it rare plus unique. Campus is entirely handicap friendly, plus wifi enabled and having good green lush.
It's a beautiful college with well maintained infrastructure. All the labs are equipped with sufficient amount of laboratory equipments. Classes are well maintained and spacious. Most of the classes have digital screen for teaching.
Curriculum is well designed and well taught in college. Teachers are really nice. You learn alot throughout your college life. Everything that is taught in theory classes is well explained in practical classes too.
Placement rate is high. Even though my course didn't have any placements but other courses are provided with good placements and get selected in big companies. Teachers also help students during placements by guiding them well.
