Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Textile Technology is a Graduate program of technical field. The duration of this course is 4 years with 8 semesters and course approved by AICTE. The programme is designed to encourage appropriate analytical and vocational skills in the context of real job and careers in the Textile Industry. Career is directed to an industry which is one of the largest in the world with a massive raw material and textiles manufacturing base. Our economy is largely dependent on the textile manufacturing and trade in addition to other major industries. As the Indian textile industry is growing rapidly, the job prospects in this sector are huge for qualified engineers. Textile engineering graduates find excellent job opportunities in diverse industrial sectors. Their career path includes process engineering, research and development, production control, technical sales, quality control, and corporate management through the production supervisory route. They can be employed in the handloom as well as mechanized sectors in India. One can find jobs in industrial engineering, product development, marketing, technical sales, and other areas.
Admission in the 1st semester to all UG courses are done by their ranking in West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination, through e-Counselling conducted by WBJEE, held every year.
Admission through Lateral Entry
Twenty percent of the total intake is filled-in from Lateral Entry candidates in the 3rd semester through JELET.
Admission through Lateral Entry to the 2nd year (3rd semester level) of the undergraduate degree courses, candidates who have either passed diploma course in Engineering / Technology / Pharmacy from any AICTE recognised Polytechnic / Institute with at least overall 50% marks (45% for reserved category) or have passed XII standard with Mathematics as a subject and Degree in Science (B.Sc.) from U.G.C. approved Universities with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved category).The aforesaid candidates will be eligible for admission to degree courses based on the merit position in the JELET conducted by the "West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board"
The candidate should be a pass in 10+2 examination from recognized Board/University with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science, Biology.
