GCETTB Berhampore Admission Process
Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Berhampore offers B.Tech in Textile Technology, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. GCETT B also offers M.Tech in Textile Technology. Admission to undergraduate courses of GCETT B is offered on the basis of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) conducted by the West Bengal Board of Examination for Admission to Engineering. M.Tech is offered on the basis of GATE/West Bengal University of Technology Post Graduate Entrance Examination conducted by the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology. The final stage of admission to all courses of fee payment and admission is finalised only when the requisite fee is paid and documents get verified. The detailed admission process of all the courses offered by Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Berhampore is given below:
B.Tech
- Candidates have to apply and appear for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board.
- Further, candidates have to participate in the WEB JEE e-counselling for choice filling, choice locking, seat allotment, document verification and fee payment.
- Final admission will be offered on the basis of merit, participation in the counselling process, choice filling, choice locking, seat allotment, document verification and fee payment.
M.Tech
- Candidates have to apply and appear for GATE/WB PGET.
- Further, candidates have to participate in the counselling process based on GATE/WB PGET scores.
- Final admission will be based on the merit, participation in the counselling process, document verification and fee payment.
- Admission will be based on the merit of GATE/WB PGET/marks of the qualifying examination.
- First preference will be given to GATE score holders.
- Second preference will be given to WB PGET rank holders.
- Third preference will be given to the graduation result of B.E/B.Tech in Textile Technology.

I wanted to study in computer science and engineering department from school life so its a dream come true moment for me and the curriculum is newly updated so we easily get to know that the teachers are all comfortable with New technologies.
College Infra
Our college established 1927 so it's a very old college in the district as well as state the textile technology department is an awesome department and with that computer science and electrical and mechanical also . All faculty members are highly educated and college has alll subject lab and one student hostel which is far from our college. College fees is very less so it's easy to afford.
Campus Life
In one word inside and outside of the campus life is: AMAZING I would say if you are not part of our college gcettb so you will miss something in your life I am blessed to have a college life and this amazing life All the students boys and girls are connected and ready to help in your tough situation our college has a student driven association.and the location of college is awesome I would definitely Recommend you to join this college.
Placements
As a training and placement Representative of our college I have some good idea that our placement percentage is not good but for textile technology department it's totally different they got some strong alumni network from this they are managed to get a good job.and other department placement is less than 60%from campus placement.
Value For Money
Our total cost for complete the b.tech 48000 And for other department it's 24000 so it's clearly defines that how much value for money if you able to get a job from off campus or on campus so it's a heaven for them.

Academics
Talking about the curriculum, this institution is under the MAKAUT University, therefore the curriculum is the same as of any other college under this University. But the thing to consider are, first of all being a Government institution, some faculties are very much reluctant about the academics. Speaking specifically about the Mechanical Dept., there are a total of 5 faculties with 4 lab asst.. But again thing is that if you want to take admission, be prepared to learn everything by yourself.
College Infra
Since this college is a completely Government funded institution, huge grants for new buildings, maintenance, ambience setup, etc. is provided on a regular basis. This has resulted in new buildings with contemporary infrastructure, new equipment (such as High-end PCs, Smart Boards and Projectors in every classrooms, etc. ). But, one thing to consider is that, sofwares that are required in the Mechanical Dept. (such as AutoCAD, Catia, Ansys, Solidworks, etc.), are not available in original form.
Campus Life
Finding an Engineering college at the very center of a city is very rare, but don't worry, this is one of them. The College is located at the very prime location of the city of Berhampore, Murshidabad. Every prime govt. offices(DM bunglow, Central Jail, Post Office, Police Station) are within 500m. But as a result there is no options to expand horizontally so new buildings are made vertically. There is no such inner campus but there is a historic Square Field to be used as extend campus.
Placements
Okay, so here comes the harsh truth, don't come to this college with preconceived notions of getting a campus place job before or after completing 4 years of B.Tech. You will not get any campus placements if you are joining in core streams like Elec. Or Mech. But good news is that there is nearly 100% placement in the Textile Dept. (Highest ₹16LPA from Trident)and nearly 40-60% placements in the CSE Dept. Students from the core branchs get offers of ₹3-4LPA in the Textile companies only.
Value For Money
The best thing about this college is that being totally State Government funded, the fees are extremely low. For Mechanical, Electrical and Textile Depts. total fees for an year is ₹500×12 = ₹6000. For the CSE Dept. total fees is ₹1000×12 = ₹12000. There is an extra exam fees of ₹1200 per sem and yes, that's all. Again based on WBJEE ranks and family income, you can available Half fees or Full fees reimbursement scholarship scheme. There are various scholarships such as SVMCM and NSP to avail.
