College Infrastructure
Since this college is a completely Government funded institution, huge grants for new buildings, maintenance, ambience setup, etc. is provided on a regular basis. This has resulted in new buildings with contemporary infrastructure, new equipment (such as High-end PCs, Smart Boards and Projectors in every classrooms, etc. ). But, one thing to consider is that, sofwares that are required in the Mechanical Dept. (such as AutoCAD, Catia, Ansys, Solidworks, etc.), are not available in original form.
Academics
Talking about the curriculum, this institution is under the MAKAUT University, therefore the curriculum is the same as of any other college under this University. But the thing to consider are, first of all being a Government institution, some faculties are very much reluctant about the academics. Speaking specifically about the Mechanical Dept., there are a total of 5 faculties with 4 lab asst.. But again thing is that if you want to take admission, be prepared to learn everything by yourself.
Placements
Okay, so here comes the harsh truth, don't come to this college with preconceived notions of getting a campus place job before or after completing 4 years of B.Tech. You will not get any campus placements if you are joining in core streams like Elec. Or Mech. But good news is that there is nearly 100% placement in the Textile Dept. (Highest ₹16LPA from Trident)and nearly 40-60% placements in the CSE Dept. Students from the core branchs get offers of ₹3-4LPA in the Textile companies only.
Value-for-money
The best thing about this college is that being totally State Government funded, the fees are extremely low. For Mechanical, Electrical and Textile Depts. total fees for an year is ₹500×12 = ₹6000. For the CSE Dept. total fees is ₹1000×12 = ₹12000. There is an extra exam fees of ₹1200 per sem and yes, that's all. Again based on WBJEE ranks and family income, you can available Half fees or Full fees reimbursement scholarship scheme. There are various scholarships such as SVMCM and NSP to avail.
Campus Life
Finding an Engineering college at the very center of a city is very rare, but don't worry, this is one of them. The College is located at the very prime location of the city of Berhampore, Murshidabad. Every prime govt. offices(DM bunglow, Central Jail, Post Office, Police Station) are within 500m. But as a result there is no options to expand horizontally so new buildings are made vertically. There is no such inner campus but there is a historic Square Field to be used as extend campus.
Anything Else
The city is very safe, one can easily have anything at apparantly anytime needed. One can think this as a smaller version of Kokata but with lesser monthly expenses. There is a small canteen attached with a common room. There are very expensive mechanical equipments in the Department such as Thermal Scanner(₹7lakhs), Submerged Arc Welding Machine and many such. So, summing everything up, my opinion is that take admission here if you are planning for GATE and other related exams.

Becoming a freshman in college is one of the biggest transitions in my life. Professors are not as intimidating and impersonal as some incoming freshman may think. While I have had some professors that are on more on the strict side, I have had only good experiences so far. Even if they are strict, it is because that really feel passionate about teaching you the topic they love. And if they weren't passionate about what they were teaching then it would be a pretty monotonous class. And despite have a large class, we can still get help from your professor, and get to know more about them. Nevertheless, I often come out of my classes thinking, "Wow, I have learned so much I feel so much more enriched and educated now." It is nice to just soak those experiences up like a sponge. And lastly, I learned that joining a club or organization is key to making new friends and feeling like you're really a part of your college. In joining a club or a study group, i met so many interesting and diverse people, that I never thought I would be able to befriend them.

Only the 3rd engineering college in the west Bengal to achieve NBA accreditation. The department of textile of this college is well known in all over India. The College life is the life that every engineer only can dream about. The Faculties and infrastructure are better but have the scope to be best. The Hostel is awesome.
