Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering is a Graduate program of technical field. The duration of this course is 4 years with 8 semesters and course approved by AICTE. Mechanical Engineering finds application in all fields of engineering and technology. Mechanical engineers have always been needed as essential staff personnel in various industries of both public and private sector. As the Industrial sector has drastically risen in pace, the need for more mechanical engineers has increased exponentially. Currently there are one CAD lab, one Mechatronics Lad, Measurement lab, Fluid Mechanics Lab, Heat transfer Lab, IC Engine, Workshop, Applied Mechanics Lab, among which one Petrol engine from Maruti, Turbines, and upcoming mini Power Plant will be of great attraction. The college offers a 4-years course of study leading to B. Tech. Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Professors from renowned Universities like Jadavpur University, BESU are attached with this college as guest lecturers. This department has started in 2010 and the 1st batch is in 3rd year now.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate should be a pass in 10+2 examination from recognized Board/University with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science, Biology.

Admission Details

Admission in the 1st semester to all UG courses are done by their ranking in West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination, through e-Counselling conducted by WBJEE, held every year.

Admission through Lateral Entry

Twenty percent of the total intake is filled-in from Lateral Entry candidates in the 3rd semester through JELET.

Admission through Lateral Entry to the 2nd year (3rd semester level) of the undergraduate degree courses, candidates who have either passed diploma course in Engineering / Technology / Pharmacy from any AICTE recognised Polytechnic / Institute with at least overall 50% marks (45% for reserved category) or have passed XII standard with Mathematics as a subject and Degree in Science (B.Sc.) from U.G.C. approved Universities with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved category).The aforesaid candidates will be eligible for admission to degree courses based on the merit position in the JELET conducted by the "West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board"

College Infrastructure

Since this college is a completely Government funded institution, huge grants for new buildings, maintenance, ambience setup, etc. is provided on a regular basis. This has resulted in new buildings with contemporary infrastructure, new equipment (such as High-end PCs, Smart Boards and Projectors in every classrooms, etc. ). But, one thing to consider is that, sofwares that are required in the Mechanical Dept. (such as AutoCAD, Catia, Ansys, Solidworks, etc.), are not available in original form.
