The infrastructure at Katihar Engineering College has witnessed significant transformations since its inception. Now fully operational at its permanent campus in Hajipur, Katihar (near NH-31), the physical setup has transitioned into a well-designed, modern environment. The college features a contemporary academic building equipped with high-tech classrooms. Many of these lecture halls are fully air-conditioned and furnished with smart boards, creating an interactive learning atmosphere that aligns with modern digital standards. Campus-wide free Wi-Fi connectivity is accessible to students, enabling them to easily utilize online resources and learning portals. The laboratory infrastructure is highly branch-specific and built to facilitate realistic learning. For the Mechanical branch, advanced labs such as the CNC Machine Lab, AutoCAD Lab, 3D Printing Lab, and a welding simulator are operational, allowing students to bridge the gap between theory and actual practice. Computer Science and Engineering students benefit from specialized computer centers with reliable systems and updated software environments. The campus also features a central library that houses an extensive collection of academic textbooks, reference guides, and journals. Students can borrow core curriculum books for up to 15 days, which provides a helpful academic buffer.
TeacheAcademics stand out as a primary pillar of strength for KECK. The college strictly adheres to the systematic curriculum structured by Bihar Engineering University, ensuring that students receive a rigorously regulated engineering education. The absolute highlight of the academic framework is the high caliber of the faculty members. A significant percentage of the professors are highly qualified, having earned their postgraduate and doctoral degrees from prestigious institutions like the IITs and NITs. Their deep conceptual understanding and past teaching or industrial experiences heavily elevate the quality of classroom instructions.
Placements at Katihar Engineering College represent an evolving landscape that requires a proactive mindset from the students. Being a relatively young state-government institution located in an emerging industrial hub, the traditional "on-campus drive" ecosystem is modest. The college has established a dedicated Training and Placement (T&P) Cell that handles corporate correspondence, arranges industrial visits, organizes training workshops, and guides students in crafting professional resumes. However, the density of major multinational tech companies physically visiting the campus for recruitment remains limited.
When evaluated on the metric of "Value for Money," Katihar Engineering College ranks exceptionally high, easily outperforming standard private engineering institutions. As a public institution under the government of Bihar, the fee structure is heavily subsidized. The annual academic tuition fee is incredibly nominal, generally ranging between 10,000 INR to 12,000 INR per year. When combined with affordable hostel accommodation and highly economical mess charges, the total financial expenditure for completing a full four-year B.Tech degree is remarkably low.
Campus life at Katihar Engineering College (KECK) offers a vibrant and deeply engaging blend of academic rigor, extracurricular exploration, and peer-driven community building. While the daily schedule is heavily structured around strict attendance, lectures, and intensive laboratory sessions, the hours outside the classroom are where the college environment truly comes alive. A major defining feature of life at KECK is the active presence of student-led organizations and technical societies. Various student clubs foster a strong culture of collaborative learning and peer mentorship. Students frequently organize and participate in group coding sessions, structural design challenges, and tech discussions, often bonding over shared projects in the computer centers or mechanical labs. Beyond technical pursuits, creative and academic expression finds an outlet through events like project exhibitions, technical seminars, and debate competitions.
Katihar Engineering College is a highly reputable option within the state-run technical education framework of Bihar, earning an overall rating of 4.1 out of 5.0. It is highly recommended for disciplined self-starters who prioritize strong academics and affordable education over an elite corporate campus culture. The institution effectively b.
The college is nice infrastructure wise. It has all the necessary facilities. We have smart boards in our classrooms. Facilities like libraries, different laboratories, computer labs, play grounds, different clubs and hostels as well.
The academics section is also good. The quality of teaching is nice as well. Teachers are well experienced and well educated as well and they are providing good quality education. They also focuses on practical knowledge.
The placement section needs improvements. the quality of placement at the college is not that good Also in computer science field they are not providing specific placements in that field. The salary packages offered ranges between 3-6 lakhs per annum
Not too good but campus is very big it is just for digree college type just for show wifi is not for students and all food any thing is not good Not proper management for bihar it is good college. Good environment
Not to good study teachers are like rude type some are goods there is no curriculum activities just for formalities. Need development in every field need facility team. Need training for job interview and all
Average placement like 2-3 lakh not to good company. highest salary package is 6 lakh rs college is supportive. In this case I got 2.7 lakh package for an IT company in Delhi .this is the quality of placement
The infrastructure of college is good enough. The academic building build recently in 2019. All classrooms are spacious and lab for all departments are present but right now it's not fully equipped. Overall campus is nice with clean environment. For hostels it's under construction. Our college is new but they managed it really well.
I am studying computer science because I am always interested in technology and want to pursue my career in technical field. Teaching quality is excellent and all faculties are highly educated. I think curriculum is updated and because it's a government college right now our college offers only 3 department i.e Civil, Mechanical and Computer Science engineering. The way our faculties taught us we definitely gonna secure a good job in future.
Placement is good. As our college is new but they always support new talents and ideas. Our first batch from college is going to passed in 2020, they got opportunities from some companies. But for big companies you have to apply for yourself. Some of the students got selected and highest salary package is in between 2-4 lakh and it's from Computer Science department. Because college is new placement is not really easy but our college always try to bring best opportunities they can.
Since it's a government college you really don't have to pay much. The fee structure is feasible for every student. Everyone can manage it also there's a variety of scholarships provide to support students. Yes I believe every penny of my fee is worth as I get great knowledge here.
Campus Life is good overall. Students and teachers all are supportive. Campus is completely ragging free. Lots of activities like sports and cultural events are held.Seniors are also very supportive and I think it's a good place to enjoy your college life.
I would like to say maybe our infrastructure is not like IITs but definitely the knowledge you are going to earn is appericiable. We got the best faculties who taught us with great passion and in very understandable way . You definitely gonna get a great position in future in your respective departments.
