If you want to choose among two universities as you asked above so I would prefer you to go with VIT Vellore because VIT Vellore ranks on 1st position by Careers360 ranking whereas UPES Dehardun is on 16th position. Moreover VIT has better quality education with proper placement assistance and providing a wider exposure to the industrial trainings to the students.

VIT Vellore has larger infrastructure as compare to UPES Dehradun and fees for B.Tech in CSE is also less in VIT Vellore.

As per you have tell your ten plus Tu label board marks is 85% and overall pcmark is 83%, so you may get UPeS through counselling in 2nd or 3rd counselling. So so you should do this.

Both the institutes are very good. But in my opinion, for CSE department KIIT is better than UPES , Dehradun for its syllabus, faculty, infrastructure. All most 100% students get placement in this college. The good students get opportunity to participate in the abroad companies too.  The average salary is in between, 4 to 12 L.P.A. Students get a chance to do internship in the companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Intel, VMware, Dell, Ola, Accenture etc.

UPES is good college but the thing is there are better college for BSC other than UPES which have generally high ratings. And there is direct admission in this college but in others there us an entrance exam. They are better in terms of Academics, placement as compared to UPES. You can also compare the college in this site. There is an option.

University of Petroleum and Energy studies, Dehradun is one of the best private universities of India. Placements are also good. Most of the placements are done in IT and Software companies. For Petroleum Engineering, the placement is average. Petroleum engineers are recruited by Oil and gas companies, Energy and Power Utility companies etc under various job roles like Production Engineer, Reservoir Engineer, Drilling Engineer, Well Logging Engineer, Well Testing Analyst, Mud Logging Engineer etc. Weatherford, Shell, Adani, Baker Hughes, Cairn Energy, L&T are few recruiters of petroleum engineers. These companies recruit petroleum engineers with an average package of 4 lacs per annum.

UPES is a college with the rating 3.8 and NAAC accredited B grade. UPES is good for Btech courses like Computer Science, Petroleum engineering, Chemical Engeering, and etc. This college also provide courses like BBA, BA LLb . The College infrastructure is good. The laboratries, libraries are well maintained and always being neat and clean.

In the college there is facility of wi-fi and projectors in the smart classes.The college campus is very huge and very beautiful. There is a canteen in the college where you can get good food.

Now lets talk about the petroleum engineering course, so ofcourse it is good course and the faculty members are so very helpful.

The placement of chemical engineering is not so good have the rating 3.8. The highest package offered is around 10 LPA and average package is 2-3 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Reliance, PCBL, Honeywell, Byju's and Jaro education. The college provide internship to each and every student in companies like Reliance, PCBL and many more.
