Yes the Karnataka state student can appear in UPES as well as VITEE exams. The minimum eligibility is that you must have scored 60% marks in your class 12 board examinations if you belong to general category. For other categories the minimum percentage of 50 will be enough in physics chemistry and maths.  Your VITEE exams are likely to held between 13-19 April 2020 and there will be no negative marking for any questions.
You can separately appear for UPESEAT or your JEEMain score card will also will enough to get admission into this college. As 80% intakes are from UPESEAT and rest of the 20%  is from JEE.

since it is very difficult to predict the exact rank but we do have a backup> we have a formula to calculate the expected rank that is (100 – Total percentile) x 869010/100.

So according to formula your expected rank for present percentile for January session comes out to be  295463 . Now the expected rank might change depending on the no of candidates appearing the april session. For ex if 12 lakh candidate appear the april session then just replace 869010 by 12 lakhs. But if you score above 85 percentile then you have a very decent chance of qualifying jee mains.

It seems a little difficult with the present percentile
No worries since you have an april attempt left just work hard and try score good.

The rules are quite difficult in UPES . You cannot carry more than 3 subjects (backlogs) for getting promoted to next year . One more rule is that you are not allowed to give a subject more than 2 times and u will be given a mercy chance (given once in 4 years that too for only one subject ).

the minimum percentile required in jee mains 2020 for admission in upes college of dehradun is the cutoff for the jee mains because if you didint qualify the jee mains then you are not eligible to get admission through jee mains. the category wise expected cutoff for the jee mains for this year is given below .

The official cutoff of JEE Mains 2020 will be released along with the final results after the April JEE Mains. The NTA will announce category wise cutoffs then. But you can still check your estimated rank using the formula (100-your total percentile)*869010/100. So with this percentile, your estimated All India rank will be around 2,86,773. Now, if the candidates appearing in April's JEE Mains increase, then your rank would increase too.

With this rank, you won't be able to qualify JEE Mains if you are of the general category and hence won't be able to get admission in UPES. Try again in April's Mains and score better or appear in UPESEAT. 1.you must have passed a 3- yr diploma in any course.
2.You would directly be admitted to the 3rd semester of the on going b.tech program.
3.lateral entry generates only when seats are vacant due to drop out of students/ failure of students in any discipline or students debated.
4.for lateral entry students option of change of Branch is not there.
Further more admission procedure is as follows:
No. Of seats vacant for admission will be notified.
Applications shall be entertained only by post/email/or online mode.
There will be written test and interview whose weightage is written 80% and inter. 20%.
Selected candidates would be called upon through mails.

Yes, lateral entry in UPES for BTech course is available , but for that firstly you will have to appear for the exam LEET (Lateral Entry Entrance Exam) and you will have to score according to the college cut off then you can have admission directly in the second year of BTech and branch will be allotted to you according the cutoff rank .
