To meet the medical needs of students, the institute has a health centre.

The institute has a library for the usage of students and faculty members. The library has a good collection of books related to all the branches and allied areas. UIT Shimla has a reading space, built for students. The library also subscribes to journals. Students at UIT Shimla also have access to the main library of Himachal Pradesh University. 

University Institute of Technology offers various facilities for indoor and outdoor games. Students are motivated to participate in various sports events.

The institute has state of the art computer and other laboratory facilities to provide a rich hand on experience to students. The computer lab is fully networked and the network is extended from the computer lab to classrooms and other labs.

The institute has well-equipped laboratories to provide a good basic understanding of technologies to students. Some of the labs at UIT Shimla are Applied Physics Laboratory, Basic Electronics Laboratory, Basic Electrical Engineering Laboratory, Computer Network Laboratory etc.
