I don't think that our college have all the necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipment. Library have got no useful book and its not a smooth process to issues a book from library, also there's things missing, no complete work is done in washrooms. No separate sports ground is there.
There are only one or two teachers who teach sincerely and rest of them are just to pass there time, and do not have relevant skills to indulge students in the teaching. Curriculum is not updated and we study all the previous technology.
Quality of placements is okay and about 65% of the students are placed in companies, but college always enhances its same record to impress the new admissions but its not the case. Average package is around Rs.4,00,000 per year.
Fees is way too much high as it is an government institute, and still we pay a fees as if we are in private institute. Also after paying this much fees in the name of Sports meet, annual say celebration we do not get facilities as per paid fees.
Campus life was great, friends are one of the best things which i miss the most. It is the only thing which is true there. Weather is amazing and also unpredictable. It may rain any time there and also monkeys are also a menace.
Yeah, almost all the infrastructure is there except few things which either don't work or don't exist like curtains in smart board classrooms also taps in washrooms don't have water in them, but is all fine and we all worked with the available facilities.
Academics is way worse than any institute, all things have to understood by our own, it seems that we have to study every thing in order to just pass the exam not to enhance our skills, and we make ourselves job ready, institute don't help a bit in that.
I don't know how students manage to get placed in top companies with an average package of around 3.5lacs per year. Placement process is easy and any student who is decent and confident could go through it easily.
Fees is almost same as any private institute and the services we get are not the same in return. They say that our institute is self financed so its fees is way too high than any other government institute.
Campus life was fun, i enjoyed a lot in those those days, those were the golden days. There was a canteen named PInk Petals where we used hang a lot, it have got decent food not 5 star rated but its worth.
The college had overall a good infrastructure, well maintained classrooms and laboratories but with the locks hanging on their doors. WiFi is not so good but the internet facility is best in the laboratories. Living spaces are cleaned and hygiene is maintained properly on regular basis.
Teachers are good but the bitter truth is there is no proper classes for students. Hardly the half of the syllabus was covered during over time. Students had to do own their own. College must have the proper time table and all. But this college don't.
The placement in this college is worst part. The campus placement is nearly NIL. Students had to go to other colleges for placements. Their is no internship in 7th semester. Only made recruitments are done.
The fees is unnecessarily so high and nearly equal to private colleges. Every year the fees are raised. Even there are no hostel facilities for the btech department. The fees in this college is really a worst part.
Campus life is the best part of this college. The neighboring areas are beautiful. It is surrounded with the best natural sceneries and tourist spots. Enjoy chai with aalo pranthas at the local vendors.
I would like to say one last thing. This college is not good for educational purposes. Go for other better colleges.
Now there's a new building but when I was in college there was this old building in which there was no space for all the classes to study at the same time, we had to schedule the time table accordingly so that one class at a time can accommodate. Building was not even maintained properly, but it was very long time ago and now the whole perspective of UIIT has changed as its name has also changed to UIT.
Nobody cared about academics and even teachers were there to just kill there time but some of them i remember. Even curriculum was not even updated and nobody bothered to study. Its not good to say bu it is the truth.
Placements was also not very fine but still students managed to get placed in various companies which was nit expected of them because of the background which UIIT have. Now all the things have changed so don't know much about now.
Fees was also very low and yeah it was still worth, because i learned a lot of things there personally. Don't remember the exact figures but it was around 30k per semester.
This was the best part about the college, HPU as a complete was a campus to us and we used to roam from one end of the shops to the other just in order to kill the tie. The weather was always nice better than many other places.
Yes, college have all the necessary infrastructure, and facilities like library, computer labs are also available. There is no hostel facility for our college, there are smart board in classrooms with no curtains on windows. Living space is clean.
I am studying B.tech in Information Technology because i was interested in it. Quality of teaching is just about fine and no extraordinary talent is there in our faculty. But they all are very helpful and allows us to solve our queries.
Many students are placed and every batch has almost same scenario as most students gets themselves placed. About 70-80% of students are placed in almost every batch I have heard of with an average package of around 4lacs per yar.
Don't remember the exact amount but it was around 1lac per year. Yeah it was worth paying that much money.
Best feature was the weather which was provided by the beautiful Shimla and the worst could be washrooms where there no water. Students engage in reading newspaper, surfing internet and stuff like that.
It was great.
Yes, college have all the necessary facilities. Library, computer labs are equipped with enough books and advanced computers respectively. Classrooms are a equipped with smart board display which is used by teachers for teaching digitally. There was no canteen until this last year but thee is also a canteen at attic.
Academics have not been that good, as expected by some students, but i have heard from many of my friends who are other colleges that even they have to study themselves at the end of the day. Same is the case with our college, but some teachers put in quite the efforts for teaching students.
Quality of placements was not outstanding but it was okay overall. Most of the students gets placed in companies as the end year come near by. Off campus placements are more reputed one's as top firms don't come at our college.
Course costed around 80-90k per year. There was no hostel facility so there's more spending on residence if you come from out of town. There are lots of pg's in that case. Yeah i guess money worth.
Campus life was fun, had to be, most of the students would say the same as we all enjoyed a lot in those days. Atmosphere was great, there were no fans in our institute as in every household in shimla.
College infrastructure was not that brilliant but it was okay as almost all the necessary equipment were there such as smart boards in classrooms, cameras were also there. Fire alarm system was also there for detecting fire. Library and computer labs were also there. Overall necessary things were there but they could have been more warmly maintained.
It seemed that teachers just came to spend there time sometimes, just for the sake of attendance of their own but some teachers used to teach very efficiently and provided a clarity about the subject or the topic which is being taught.
About 80-90% students of our batch are placed in companies which arrived at our campus for recruitment process. In some cases students even had to go to other college campus for getting placed in reputed companies. The average package was around 4las per year.
Our institute was a self-financed government institute so most of the programs which were organised such as Annual Meet, Fest, Sports Meet were with the help of the fund which we have provided and also with which government had given so, I guess it was worth the money which we paid in return of the experience I had.
Campus life was great, the most amazing part about UIIT was that we were like a family, it was a small institute and almost everybody knew everybody. The atmosphere was all good and staff was also very helpful and kind.
College don't have all the necessary facilities, there's no water supply in washrooms, no lighting conditioning available in smart classrooms. Sometimes there's no space for students to accommodate themselves because there are already students sitting in labs.
Teachers are not disciplined at all, they are not serious about their work and do not even teach well. Some of them are quite good at their work and teach well also. But mostly all of them are quite friendly except few of them.
Placements are good as many students of our college gets placed and many small scale companies come to our college for placement. All the top companies do not come to our college as our campus is small and have only around 150 students to select from.
Don't remember the exact figures but it was not worth in return of the services we get. Our fees is used to pay the teachers as their salary and many other functions are organised on the same fees which we pay which are not good.
The whole Summer Hill are was like a campus to me as our original campus was not that big to isolate our group in privacy. But the preparations were done in college only like gaming, fest events etc.
Don't take life too seriously.
College infrastructure was overall good. Classrooms were equipped with smart board display but there were no curtains. There's a new building which is also being used now a days. Three more streams of engineering were added to the various courses provided by the college. Yes laboratory is also there and a library too.
Academics could have been more effective and it is not the same as expected by the new admission. All the teachers are helpful but not that good at teaching still there are some who are quite good at there job and allows to educate ourselves regarding the subjects in detail.
There comes a lot of companies in our college for recruitment process but the most reputed one's which are very exceptional in their field do not arrive at our campus but the students had to go to other campus for getting through the process. Students go placed in companies like Cognizant, TCS, Infosys, Wipro with an average package of around Rs. 3,80,000 per annum.
The money we pay is also used for fest, sports meet and in organizing many other events. We pay around Rs 90,000 per year and the services we get are not worth the money we pay according to me personally.
It was amazing, i have made good friends. As our campus is in Shimla and it has got its own charm and beauty. The weather is amazing and allows us to spend our time even outside the campus. The whole are was like campus to us.
College does have all the necessary infrastructure. Facilities like smart board displays in classroom and computer laboratories which are necessarily equipped, also the internet connection is brilliant. Library is also available and there is also a state library available in the University.
I am pursuing B.Tech in Information Technology, and the quality of teaching is not that adequate as one expect while get admission in the college. Few teachers are there who teach with great interest but most of the others are not at all interested in teaching.
Most of the students gets placed in companies in which they wanted to be, this is unexpected as quality of teaching is not up to the mark. This shows that students prepare by themselves and gets themselves placed. Most of the reputed companies were off campus placements and also thee were companies which visited the college.
The course costed around 1lac per year. No, I did not felt that my money is worth in return for the services we get. It could have been clearly better.
Best feature about the campus were its atmosphere, weather was almost daily brilliant which made it peasant to visit the college daily. Teachers were quite supportive and also the staff was pretty friendly with the students.

Hello Karan,
Getting admission to UIIT Shimla via HPTU with 106 marks also depends a lot on the cutoff of the year, your category (General, SC / ST, etc), and the vacancies available. In past years the cutoff for General category students has typically been higher than 106, so getting admission in the first round, may be more difficult for you. However, you may have a chance in later rounds or under reserved categories. Check here for more information: UIIT Shimla
