Veerappa Nisty College of Engineering, Shorapur (VNEC) generates undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering and management. The admission procedure is comprehensive at the college and intends to select the deserving candidates for a course of undergraduate or postgraduate study. VNEC is approved under AICTE; the admissions procedures are carried out according to it. Applications for admission usually start just before the onset of the academic session, which is usually in August-September. Most admissions in undergraduate engineering courses rely on the corresponding entrance examination performance. For postgraduate courses, admissions take place for national and state entrance scores depending on the program.
For the undergraduate eligibility criteria, one of the general needs is successful completion of the 10+2 education where Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics acted as major subjects. The majority of courses require a candidate to have attained 50% aggregate marks at least in the qualifying examination. To gain admission into postgraduate programs, a candidate should hold a bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline from any recognized university. Because of the nature of courses, VNEC uses entrance examinations conducted nationally and at the state level. Thus, the management admissions cut across CAT (Common Admission Test), MAT (Management Aptitude Test), Karnataka PGCET (Post Graduate Common Entrance Test), and KMAT (Karnataka Management Aptitude Test).
