In the Division of Biological Sciences at the Institute is engaged in front line research at the frontiers of modern biology. The IISC BANGALORE encompasses three major departments, four smaller centres and three facilities and has on its rolls more than 50 faculty members and about 300 research scholars and post doctoral fellows.
Genetic Engineering is concerned with deliberate manipulation of the genetic material (DNA) of a living organism by artificial methods.
Eligibility:
you should be 10+2 pass in science stream from recognized board examination.
Specializations like Classical genetics, Behavioral genetics, Clinical genetics
Molecular genetics, Genetic algorithms etc..

Congratulations on getting an offer from nanoscience engineering. In terms of scope it has huge opportunity in the upcoming generations. The eligibility criteria for the BTech in Genetical Engineering suggests that the student must have passed 10+2 with certain percentage (decided by the institute you are taking admission in) in Physics , Chemistry , Biology / Mathematics . So yeah! If you have Biology then you can take admission in the BTech Genetical Engineering but for the admission to any engineering course you have to give some entrance. Now the engineering entrances three subjects such as Physics, chemistry and Mathematics. So you have to clear the Mathematics paper in entrance as the paper for all Engineering courses are the same.

I hope you are doing well. Unfortunately , the Indian institute of science situated in Banglore commonly known as IISC doesn't provide you B.Sc in biotechnology . They provide lots of programmes other than this like B.sc research in biology , B.sc research in chemistry , B.sc research in mathematics and so on.

Hope you are doing great as per the question asked by you, you should work hard and should focus on achieving high and high in entrance exam it totally depends upon the examination if paper is simple then cutoff goes high gradually and if paper or examination is hard then cutoff goes down. • GATE is an online entrance test held by one of the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee, and Kanpur) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore. From the release of the GATE application form through the announcement of the results, there are numerous events that occur during this entrance exam. The authorities also reveal the qualifying cutoff along with the GATE result. Because disciplines such as Mechanical Engineering (ME) and Civil Engineering (CE) have the biggest number of applicants, these papers are divided into two sessions. The normalisation formula is used to calculate the students' grades in various subjects. On the other hand, the raw marks achieved by candidates who took all of the papers in a single session (other than ME, CS, EC, EE, and CE) are used in the GATE score computation formula. Candidates should be aware that their raw marks will be out of 100, whilst their GATE scores will be out of 1000. Now the cut off score depends on few main factors
• The number of students appeared in the exam
• the difficulty level of the exam
• the vacancy seat matrix

As per the updated information brochure available on the website of IISC Bangalore, till date there is no such course mentioned under the Division of Biological Sciences as B.Tech in Genetic Engineering course, however they have mentioned about their integrated PhD course in Genetics, under the Biological Sciences division. Ir order to keep yourself updated with the notifications provided by the institute, you need to check their website regularly.
