Hello there!

Greetings!

IIT BHU is great , among engineering colleges, it was ranked 11 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2019 and 28 overall. It was ranked 10th among engineering colleges in India in 2017 by The Week.

Coming to hostel facilities, I would say that it has good hostels but one room is shared by 3 students, it would have been better if  only two students were allotted a single room instead of three in the room. Mess food is not great,  but it's ok type of food there,  you can eat the food.

Campus life and daily routine is great in iit bhu , you are bound  to enjoy it , a healthy atmosphere is there. Also girls and boys ratio is good it's around 30:70, which is much higher than any other IITs. So many cultural , technical and sports fest are organized throughout the year.

Thankyou

Dear Aspirant,

The admission into the IITs is not on the basis of your marks but on the basis of your rank. However, you have to score a minimum marks(cutoff marks) for getting a rank. You have to get a rank which is in accordance with the previous year trends and then you will surely get either CSE or EE in IIT BHU.

For Computer Science and Engineering your rank must be in between 500-1000 according to past trends for general category students.

For Electrical engineering your rank must be in between 2000-3000 according to past year trends. Check out the following link for complete details:

Hope this helps. Thank You.

Dear Aspirant,

50% of the seats in all the IITs, NITs and GFTIs are unreserved and open to general candidates so technically 50% of the available seats in all the cse at different different IITs are filled by general candidates. Moreover, with the introduction of 10% reservation for Economically weaker sections(EWS) of the society. This further increased the number of general candidates.

You could check the detailed list(seat matrix) of IITs here .

Thank You.

Hey Aspirant,

The placement is good with every type of company profile available for every branch. Almost all of the students were placed except for a few who had opted for the higher studies. The package ranges between Rs. 6 Lacs Per Annum to Rs. 12 Lakhs Per Annum. The companies like EXL, Ola and ZS visited for the campus placement.

Dear Aspirant,
IT at MNNIT will be a much better option than anything.
  • MNNIT has better placement in IT branch.
  • Better faculties for IT.
  • Good coding environment in this branch.
  • Internship in 3rd year mostly for CSE/IT branches.
  • Package of minimum 12 to maximum 45 lakh. ( Depends on your quality and knowledge in).

Decide your interest first then choose accordingly. Prefer branch first then after college tag.

All the best!

Dear Student,

I've read most of the answers to this question and feel they have made it quite clear that IIT-BHU is at par with old IIT's . I'll like to mention those points which i think are mostly ignored and go unnoticed. I'll try to take a fair stand.

  • Faculty - an extremely criticised aspect of all IIT's . Overall in IIT's there is a shortage of 34% percent faculty members .This shows all IITs are dealing with the problem of faculty shortage, and at the same time , IIT-BHU has sufficient highly qualified faculty members .Now, where quality of teaching is concerned , it has highly experienced teachers . New recruitments are made by procedure similar to other IITs , so same level of teaching skill is distributed amoung IITs .
  • Here , in IIT BHU , no faculty members are involved in the club activities . This can be taken positively as 3rd and 2nd year student manage all the work of the club , whichc give them a complete exposure of management ( including marketting and publicity ) , which gives one an experience of holding a serious position of responsibilty.
  • One thing which i feel is helpful to the students studying here , that the course structure is not too harsh and tiring for students, so they can devote their time in learning things which they feel interesting and worth learning , rather than just gaining theoritical knowledge of things in which they have no particular inclination . They have full opportunity to enjoy their college-life to the fullest, without any burden of studies. In some of the old IITs , course structure is quite hard and rigid, which do not give enough flexibility to students to choose their career line , after making “ an unexperienced decision “ while entering the college . Thus , IIT BHU have +ve 's which are unique  and noteworthy .
  • Now coming to other facilities, surely there is a lack of luxuries which other old IITs have ( no defending on that part  ) , but constant improvement in administration is seen in last 3–4 years .
  • This point needs complete optimistic approach to be understood well  . One feels its college as his home , and his confidence level within is always high . HUGE campus of BHU provide its student with greater region where they feel safe and confident .Not only this , but outstanding sports facility of BHU has helped IITBHU in becoming one of the tough competitors in INTER-IITs . Almost all sports are played and coached . Mention the game and its there.
  • Some miscreants have earlier tried to create some sort of nuisance, but it was delt strictly , and increased security nowadays , have secured IITBHU, better than ever before .IIT-BHU have proven its metal on every grounds , let it be placements , or other cultural activities . It has been successful in making its student multi-tasking and confident .

So before pointing fingures on such renouned institution , think twice or even DON'T , it'll cause pain in your toes . Hope I have made my self clear.

Best Wishes!

College Infrastructure

The infrastructure of this IIT needs to be improved as far as other IITS are concerned. We will find decent hostels situated on campus. It also has its own mess, which provides decent food. Classrooms are also well-equipped with modern facilities. Here, the library has very limited capacity so it needs to be expanded.
