Course Overview
The goal of the German-III Certification is to achieve a level of competency in German that corresponds to B1 on the European Common Framework of Reference for Languages abbreviated as CEFR or CEF.
German III classes are designed to increase your proficiency in the language to the point where you can pass B1-level exams offered by certifying organizations.
All students get a German - III Certification from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) under the Swayam Initiative by the Government of India.

Certificate Qualifying Details
- E-certificates will be issued to all such participants who have attended the program and only if the average assignment score is greater than or equal to 10/25 and the exam score is greater than or equal to 30/75. If one of the above-mentioned criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the final score is greater than or equal to 40/100.
Work experience
- Work Experience is not required to get enrolled in this certificate course.

The European Framework of Reference for Languages divides language ability into six levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2). Level A1 is the beginner level, B1 and B2 are roughly intermediate level, C1 and C2 represent a good to perfect language mastery.
The NPTEL classes for German - III are conducted in virtual mode.
German is fairly easy to learn as an English language because both languages are very similar.

Goethe-Zertifikats A1-C2 do not expire at all but most institutions and employers expect the certificate to be dated not more than two years ago.
