Best wishes!

Hii,IIIT Gwalior ? You mean ABVIIITM, Gwalior ? If yes, then read on.

CSE and mechanical engineering are widely different. Better depend more on your gut feeling. Listen to your heart. If you know students from both disciplines, consult them. Weigh the pros and cons.

In ABVIIITM, CSE degree till a few days ago had a two pronged approach. After the first few semesters, depending on your CGPA, you will be diverted to MTech or MBA. It's a dual degree in ABVIIITM, I hope you know. And higher CGPA-wala students get into MTech, lower ranked people go into MBA. So you should be careful about maintaining your CGPA all along. And remember ABVIIITM in G is one of the best for CSE.

MNIT Jaipur offers the most no. of branches among all the NITs (most probably the same is true about the IIT in Bhubaneswar also. Interesting similarity!!). And as a college, it's not that much far behind as some people may think it to be. Mechanical as a branch is also not bad. If you consider placements, in a large no. of cases, CSE gives you money a little bit quickly, that's why there's so much hype around CSE. Mechanical, electrical or civil as carreer options give you the same, but a little bit slowly. But these are evergreen branches. If you are steady and if you learn your subject well, any one of these subjects can give you as much mone

You can get iiits but you will have to go with the newer ones like iiit Pune, iiit sonepat, iiit Jabalpur, iiit Kota, etc.

You can check out the cutoff of the JEE main in accordance with the iiits here

Good luck

Hello Aspirant
39816 is your obc category rank which is very high . You can't get seat in any nit and IIIT college for b tech Computer science and engineering .
You should try for private college .
Thanks

Hello Sir

There are many many factors which will affect your son's decision:

1) Does he want to persue his career in CSE or not: If yes, then he should go for colleges like NIT srinagar CSE or CSE in some IIIT.

2)He is not sure about branch:Then i would suggest you to go for better college. Don't choose mining or metallurgy in colleges other than NIT trichy, NIT surathkal and NIT warangal.

IIITs are not that good because they are very new. most of them are still under construction. But if your son is too much into CSE, then only the branch matters.

Hello,
With that rank in JEE main, you cannot get a seat in any government colleges for engineering like NITs IIITs and GFTIs. Your rank is way too high. It is impossible for you. A
So please go for some good private engineering colleges in India like Sharda SRM Amity etc. Here's a list of them

Hope it helps
Thank you!

Hello Jatin,

In order to choose between the two you can compare both the colleges according to the facilities they offer and choose the one that suits you. In case of IIIT LUCKNOW-

• the fee structure of the college is a bit expensive with it being 90k per semester. Although scholarships are also given which may provide some rebatement in cases of the fees.

• the placements at IIT Lucknow are pretty good. The placements at IIT Lucknow are better than most of the NITs. Some of the prominent recruiters were Directi, Coordination, Goldmann Sachs, Accolade, etc. And the average package is also above 11 lakhs.

• the faculty is also very good. They have an in-depth knowledge of their subjects. The courses are designed in such a way that allows good knowledge that is required for the IT branch. The faculty stays with at least 5-10 years of teaching experience from good and reputed universities. The students to faculty ratio is 6:1.

• the college also provides good internships to the students. They provide both a 2 month internship as well as a 6 month internship. The 2-month summer internship is for 3rd-year students and 6-month internship is for final year undergraduate students in some big tech giants where they have been offered full-time employment. The stipends range from 35-40k in cases of the 2 month internship and around 30k per month for the 6 month internship.

• IIT Lucknow organises tech fests along with the normal college fests and cultural fests. Technical fest consists of events related to coding events and hackathons. The cultural fest is for cultural events having DJ night and Celebrity night and other fun and musical events. Even sports fests are organised every year.

In case of IIIT KOTA-

• Fee structure is as follows: Institute fees is 78000 for people with salary above 5lpa. 35000 for above 1lpa. And 16000 for below 1lpa. Hostel fees is 26000 for all. I know the fees is quite high for some. But it is according to the rule of Central government.

• The placements at IIIT Kota are pretty good with the average salary packages being around 10 Lakh per annum. Companies like Amazon, Adobe, Oracle, etc approach the colleges for jobs giving out job placements and salary packages as high as 30 Lakh per year too. Jobs are offered on the basis of knowledge here. There are students that also prepare for government examinations too.

• The faculty here isn't as good and comprises mostly of guest faculty. This is due to the college being a new college. There are guest lecturers from MNIT and other colleges too. Several times there are teachers form IIT too.

• Campus is good and so is the infrastructure. There is lots of greenery all around as well. The college comprises of many clubs including robotics club, music club, dance club, etc, which allow the students to enjoy their college life even more. The course is much better and revised then other colleges

• the internships are good here with stipends being at an average of 30k. The highest stipend going upto 1Lk and minimum 7k.

• there are techno and cultural fests organised along with sports events as well. All State and Central scholorships are entertained. Other than that college provides scholarships to the needy and toppers.

You can compare between the two and choose your preferred college. Although IIIT Lucknow WPULD be a better choice.

I hope this helped.

All the best!!

College Infrastructure

As a third year B-tech student i have spent two years on campus and want to share my honest experience. Our college boasts a spacious and well maintained campus spread across around 30 acres. The main academic block are clean and fully functional with essential labs and new tech ,modern classrooms equipped with projectors and comfort seating there are also designated seminar halls and conference rooms on the ground floor of academic block. The academic block is mainly divided into 3 blocks, Block A, B and C including a very large and useful library in B block. Hostels are very close to academic block most of the hostel blocks consist of 9 floors each floor consists of 7 rooms with 6 three student rooms and 1 four student room. there is also single room hostels from second year but limited entries depending on CGPA of students. Hostel Mess is inside the hostel in ground and 1st floors. There is also a college canteen, Nescafe outlet (functioning up to 2 am ) and a stationary store inside campus. Whole campus including hostels is equipped with high speed WIFI up to a speed of 350mbps. The campus and hostels are maintained clean and tidy .Food is not the best and non native students find it difficult to maintain but there are other options plenty because mess fee is weekly and optional.

Overall college life here is not too much but good.
