M.Sc Mathematics - Batch of 2025-01-01
Academics
The M.Sc. Mathematics program was academically challenging and required consistent effort. The professors had strong subject knowledge and encouraged logical thinking and research. At times, I found the coursework quite demanding, and I wished there had been more industry-oriented electives and practical applications alongside the theoretical content.
College Infra
National Institute of Technology Silchar has a large and green campus with good classrooms, a central library, computer facilities, hostels, and sports complexes. I liked the peaceful environment for studying. However, I felt that some hostel facilities and campus maintenance could have been improved.
Campus Life
What I enjoyed most was interacting with students from different states and backgrounds.
Technical events, cultural festivals, and student clubs made campus life enjoyable. On the other hand, Silchar is a relatively quiet city, so entertainment and off campus activities were limited compated to metro cities.
Placements
Placement opportunities for M.Sc. Mathematics were limited compared to eng anches. Students interested in analytics, data science, or teaching had opportunities, but most of us had to prepare independently for competitive exams or off-campus stronger industry collaborations would benefit postgraduate students.
Value For Money
The affordable fee structure and the NIT tag made the course a worthwhile investment for me. I received quality education without spending a huge amount. However, students expecting guaranteed placements after graduation might feel the return depends largely on their own efforts and career goals.

The academic environment is challenging and encourages independent learning. Faculty members are knowledgeable and supportive, and the curriculum is designed to build strong technical and analytical skills.
College Infra
National institute of technology Silchar has a green and large campus with modern classrooms, well-equipped labs, a library, hostels, sports facilities, and high-speed internet. The infrastructure supports both academics and research well.
Campus Life
Campus life was exciting and memorable.
Placements
Placements are one of the strengths of the institute, especially for engineering branches like CSE, ECE, and IT. Many reputed companies visit the campus, offering good salary packages. However, placement opportunities and packages can vary across branche.
Value For Money
I felt the institute offered excellent value for money. Being an NIT, tuition fee is reasonable as compared to many private colleges, and the quality of education, campus facilities, and placement opportunities justify the investment.

If your goal is placements and tech jobs , take AIT Pune IT .
Why?
- IT is much closer to CSE than Mechanical.
- You'll study programming, databases, networks, web development, etc.
- AIT has consistently strong placements with an average package around Rs 10–11 LPA and very high
