National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar facilities on campus include an administration area, academic buildings, separate hostels for boys and girls, staff quarters, a guest house, a library, a post office and students’ recreation and sports amenities. NIT Silchar has a playground for playing cricket, hockey, football and other games.
Other NIT Silchar facilities include a health centre with qualified medical officers and a full-computerised core-banking State Bank of India branch. The Institute has got eight Boys hostels. During the year under review, construction of 1000-bedded Boys Hostel No-9, 300-bedded PG Boys' Hostel, and 100-bedded Married Scholar's Hostel has been taken up. All the hostels have their individual Mess Management Committee to look after the fooding requirement for their borders.

NIT Silchar has a health institute with a Senior Medical Officer. Apart from allopathic medicines, it also offers homeopathy and dental treatments.

The central library of NIT Silchar was established in 1977. It is part of the LTT building with a 97,000 collection of documents of both printed and non-printed materials. The library has state-of-the-art technological applications and holds knowledge resources related to Science, Technology, Management, Humanities, Social Science and other related subjects.
NIT Silchar has a large playground where students can play football, hockey, cricket and other games. The institute also has a lawn tennis court and a hard court for volleyball, basketball and badminton.

The SBI Bank branch in the NIT Silchar campus provides banking facilities to the students, staff members and people of the villages surrounding the institute.
The institute has a small post office within the campus with facilities like registration, speed post, and money order.
The Institute Guest House, flanked by green lawns and colourful horticulture remains a pleasant haven for the Institute Guests, whether from academia or alumni or parents of the students. The state-of-the-art Guest House with all modern infrastructures is one of its kind in the North East. Some renowned personalities of the Nation in the likes of Former President of India and Bharat Ratna recipient Late Shri APJ Abdul Kalam and Hon'ble Minister of Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu are eminent guests who stayed in the Guest House during their visit to this Valley.
NIT Silchar has one of the greenest and largest college campus compared to other colleges in India. The buildings are old but are good enough and also has basic facilities and equipments. The classrooms have smartboards, laboratories are well equipped and sports centres like gym are also available. Hostels provide food 4times a day and is good enough.
College infrastructure is good not excellent as it is a very old college( built in 1960's) so not as good as private colleges but it is ok campus is very big and there is no issue in hostels or classes they are comfortable enough.They provide all the basic facilities to students.Hostels are cleaned almost everyday.Classrooms are occupied with smart boards and well maintained benches.
NIT Silchar maintains a well-maintainned campus with modern infrastructure - spacious classrooms equipped with smart boards, central library, sports facilities and descent hostels. Overall infrastructure is good which helps in excelling in academics and extra-curricular activities.
Admission to the NIT is based on the rank rather than the percentile, Last year NIT Silchar cutoff rank for the Mechanical engineering under home state quota in ST Category (male) was 2804 via JSAA on the other hand 80730 via CSAB. So you should wait for the final rank

With score between 80 to 90 in JEE Mains, your percentile would be around 85 to 91 and for EWS category your admission at NIT Silchar is possible but not guaranteed that too in lower branches of BTech not in CSE or AI/ML.
