I am a student in the Mechanical Department and I think that the quality of teaching in the Mechanical department is good if not excellent. Though some advances can be made in the Theoretical and Practical aspect of the courses.
Placements: The placements offered by SRM IST are good. They make sure that a lot of companies come for recruitment. Most of the students are placed in IT companies like Infosys, Cognizant, TCS etc. The average package for mass recruiters remains around 4 Lacs.
The Course cost in SRM IST is pretty high especially when you don't manage to get a rank under 15,000 as the cost of tuition fees increases drastically after that mark. And no sometimes you don't feel getting your money's worth because of the unreasonable attitude or the irrational checking of the faculty.
All activity related to extracurricular programs, forums, clubs, community service, and entrepreneurship cell and students council is managed by the student affairs department. Counsellors are available to guide students and share personal issues. From entertainment to extra-curricular or even religious pursuits, there's never a dull moment on campus. It's a 'mini India' out here at the SRM university campus - with students from all over India and other parts of the world.

Placements are excellent and our college is renowned for it.SRM maintains a high placement rate across all branches. The placements are centralized. The average salary is around 4 LPA based on what i heard. The placement process is said to be smooth and the college helps train students for the same.
The fees is definitely expensive. My course costs 3.5L per year.I personally think it wont be a waste of money if you get in.There are a lot of oppurtunities at SRM.
Campus life is awesome and vibrant.Students can engage in various clubs and chapters based on their interests and liking. The campus life is diverse with students from different parts of India and abroad as well. The location is safe and well connected to interior chennai by public transport.
The labs for the first year are really good , but second or third or even the fourth year lab is really dated , u can see that for yourself as there are many machines that are not used now a days in the industry but are still in the practicals it's not that the modern ones are not there but u will find it difficult as the operators won't allow u to use them
In terms of academic performance and all some facultys are really interested in making students learn and on the other hand their are teachers who don't even care, u could just watch a whole movie while class is going on
Regarding placements from the things I have seen I can say well most of the people get places but only a few get into the companies that they are studying for 4 years, in other words getting into core companies on any fields are tough in srm
My coarse cost around 2.5 lakhs per year and especially 1 .1 lakh for the hostel and around 3 to 4 thousand monthly allowance ,well u can save on the monthly bill as it all boils down to one's choice of lifestyle
Campus life is overall pleasant, nothing too good not too bad, u can get all types of food u want to eat ,worst part don't go overboard as its not your place try to act kind trust me or else u will regret
The collage is fine given the overall environment of any other private universities ,but if u really want to do something forget getting a good knowledge from the faculty instead study yourself or get help from senior year students
Yes the college has all the necessary infrastructure facilities and equipments........ The classes have projectors implemented.... The laboratories are overall good but old equipments... Living spaces are clean food not really that hygenic
I am studying Btech mechanical engineering..... The quality of teaching is average... I took mechanical engineering because. I was interested in it since a long time..... ... No the study doesn't make job it depends on how much we can be practically implement it
60 percent of college placement....... I have not applied for placement yet................. ................................... .. Yes the college is supportive in terms of placement...... Average salary was 2-3 lakhs
The course was really expensive...... Nah not worth our money as much as we payed because the teaching staffs are about ...... And not really supportive in terms of problems faced by students.... They ignore the problems
The college campus is beautiful..... The best feature of the college are the plants and trees how they are well maintained all over the campus.... ... The location of the campus is safe but not really good in terms of handling emergency
Overall good
Srm have got more than the necessary facilities. Campus got ac hostels, canteens, classroom with smart boards, 4 basketball court 2 football fields 5 tennis courts 4 volleyball courts cricket field hockey field and chess room with ac facility.
Academic here is outstanding as SRM is one of the top institution in india and getting admission here is really tough. If you get admission here then your curriculum will update automatically. The college provide management functions designed by experts.
The quality of placement is very good. The success rate of placement here varies from 80 to 90% with a average package of 4.2 lakh per annum and the highest package last year was of 32 lakh per annum.
SRM has all the necessary facilities in infrastructure, facilities and equipment. The various departments all have their own special well-equipped labs. The University building has air-conditioned classes. Wifi is available in all campus buildings as well as the student hostels. The speed is decent as well. The hygiene of the mess and food courts is slightly above average at best.
I am studying Computer Science in SRM. The quality of teaching for the first year can be mixed because of the variety of topics need to be covered. Nevertheless, I find it to be adequate. Though the curriculum is well updated, it may help if they are adopted in the first year itself and not kept for second year's curriculum.
According to the official website, the placement percentage from 2013-2017 seems to be 77%. The highest salary package was made by Microsoft, at ₹41.6 lakh per annum. Other companies like Amazon, etc. also offered high enough packages.
The cost of education and exam fees as well as staying in the hostel (AC) goes upto 6 lakhs. Although you can get a discount the higher up you are in rank in the result of SRMJEE. I am on the fence about whether I am getting my money's worth. Mostly I feel that I am.
The campus life is fairly nice. It has a good food court, a playing ground and more than enough student clubs for any sort of interest a student can have. The teachers are also supportive you even get attendance for events you attend as part of a club. SRM can most definitely handle emergencies as there is a hospital within the campus itself.
