    Value for Money

3,50,000 per year . No worth for 3,50,000 per year cuz the infrastructure is not too good for the money spent .

    Campus Life

Campus is too small , the best was all classroom are air conditioner but very small campus no place to hangout inside the campus and very poor parking facilities. No activity for engaging students. Location were college placed was too good , it's was placed in the middle of the city , yes it can handle the emergencies

    Others

It's was an average college and campus when compared to SRM kattankulathur campus. If you want to join the college were placed in the middle of the city , the. Srm vadapalani would be the best choice for you .

    SRM IST VDP

    College Infrastructure

Infrastructure is pretty as per the college concern. FET department is doing great!✓Being a Northeastern inhabitant it was a tough call for me joining SRM but trust me SRM Vadapalani has never disappointed me in any concern till now although everyone struggles while switching states so it's obvious life isn't that easy . But I bet you will love the environment of this campus. ✓Fests, professional events, webinars, workshops, hackathons are endless and quite worthy. ✓Good indoor sports facilities

    Academics

This Campus is known for its academic value. Truly dedicated professors with utmost mindset for the students advancement. ✓The FET Faculty deserves A++ ratings for their tireless efforts and dedication for their students and sharing a helping hand many a times without any hesitation. ✓Faculty to student ratio is comparatively better than other colleges ✓Ragging ,one of the top notch concern of an Engineering college has no place over here(Ragging free campus).

    Placements

I am in 2nd year . As per my knowledge my seniors are getting placed in both IT as well as core companies . But that completely depends on students capability. SRM will give you the opportunity, you need to grab it.

    Value for Money

Ya , it costs abit high. But afterall its a private college so it cool. Check university website for fee structure.

    Campus Life

It's good for any kind of students introvert ,extrovert, sports oriented, programming oriented etc.

    Others

You will get the exposure of the city studying here.

Except for fee structure I would say it's a good college

    College Infrastructure

The college is considered to be one of the top 5 deemed university college . They have necessary facilities and equipments. But it's a small campus compared to other SRM campuses. It is air conditioned campus and has WiFi connection all over the building which students can use it . They provide hostel facilties . And they maintain good hygiene

    Academics

They have update the syllabus and the department of ECE has specialization as well we can choose between the specialization. Even though the syllabus is updated still the student must develop some recent technological skills in order to get placed

    Placements

The placement is conducted where all the students from all campus participate . It's difficult to get placed in core than software companies . The recruiters will give more placements to students from the main campus which is situated katangalathur. The package is decent depending upon the company .

    Value for Money

It is around 1,75,000 for students who have written entrance or else 2L FOR MANAGEMENT SEAT. But if u ask it is worth it is not because compared to other students from colleges pay same amount with food and transport

A Review of SRM Institute of Science and Technology

    Verified Review
    College Infrastructure

The college has good infrastructure, facilities and equipment such as air conditioned classrooms, and necessary lab equipment. The places the college falls short on are the regular maintenance of lab equipment, the traditional use of blackboards in an air-conditioned room, elevator traffic and poorly maintained sanitation areas. The living spaces are clean and the food is hygienic in the college canteen. The WiFi system is redundant as most students prefer data over WiFi citing privacy concerns.

    Academics

I am pursuing a baccalaureate degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering. The other undergraduate courses the college offers are Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science Engineering. The curriculum is updated occasionally, not as frequently as the grading system is updated. The teaching capabilities depend wholly on the staff-person, whose knowledge being communicated is hindered by lack of fluency in the English Language.

    Placements

I have not yet completed my baccalaureate so I do not think I am qualified to write about placements. Based on hearsay, I would say that the placements are good. Yet again, the quality of placement you get totally depends on how knowledgeable and how communicable you are.

    Value for Money

My course costs around 1,75,000 INR annually. I feel I am getting my money's worth because this campus has relatively better faculty and a studious atmosphere than the other two campuses.

    Campus Life

Generally speaking, the college is well connected in terms of transport and is situated in the heart of Chennai. The worst feature will be the fact that the entire college is just a five-story building with no playground.

Made me more serious in academics.

    College Infrastructure

No play ground or spacious campus. Canteen food is average but lacks variety in food. Some foods are very oily and no great choice for healthy food. Sufficient course books are available in library but students cannot issue more than 3 books at a time. Campus wifi is poor and nobody can connect to it. Yoga mats are poorly maintained. AC is there in all classrooms. Projectors are available in all classrooms for students. Laptops are allowed in college but not during class. Not very strict campus.

    Academics

The coursework has decent coverage of required engineering topics but does not involve a lot of critical and logical thinking. Problematic papers are fewer and application oriented papers are fewer compared to descriptive type or derivation type. The electives offered are very theoretical and involve less of hands on arduino projects or hands on project work. The faculties teach well from University exam perspective but students have to do research and project on their own and figure out interns

    Placements

Not many students get placed in core companies. I am unsure about core companies coming for placements. Most people get placed in IT companies especially mass recruiters. Many students plan to go abroad for higher studies or write competitive exams to get placed with better packages. Companies like Intel and Microsoft are a dream to be placed in and I haven't heard any of my seniors getting placed in any of these companies. Core companies are very few so not many core options.

    Value for Money

Costs around 1 lakh 75 thousand per year. I feel that it's fairly justified but would be happier if better core companies came for campus placements and better campus facilities would be available for students. I would also like if we had more club activities and project activities for those who are interested. For all fests or events happening in college, students are forced to pay a small amount for a T shirt or a seminar which should not be compulsory. Especially juniors are forced to pay .

    Campus Life

The building is claustrophobic. The strength is less and not many cultural activities happen. Teachers are very supportive in academics but mostly with respect to university syllabus and exams. Extra curricular activities are few. The campus is well located and it's in the heart of the city. There is SIMS hospital for emergencies, good transport facilities.

    Others

If you are someone who is an extrovert and into cultural activities it's not a place for you.

    About srm

    College Infrastructure

Srm vdp has well maintained infrastructure,Within a small area clg has all the facilities & well equipped laboratories , well furnished and air conditione classrooms . It also includes projector for smart classes , Teachers uses it for betterment of students. One disadvantage in this campus is , they dont have an area for sports , but they do encourage us for sports and allow us to practise in main campus. Hostel is not there but vdp students generally stay in ramapuram hostel with bus facility

    Academics

I , student of SRM vdp (2018-22) batch , currently studying third year pursuing Btech ECE . Students may experience the best exposure . The quality of teaching is amazing .Teachers are friendly and they will guide the students throughout their career. Students will gain extra knowledge and they will become more responsible and get improvised in leadership qualities becus srm vdp indulge in lot of other career related activities which will be useful for the future of the students.

    Placements

About the placements , many companies do visit the campus for placements. 90% of the students gets placed in the campus interview, only arrear students face difficulty during placements. Placements doesn't depend on percentages, only few companies require specific percentages. 7 and above cgpa can peacefully sit for placements without any tension. Placement process is quite easy, you will have aptitude round, which will be taught by srm faculties then group discussion and then interview.

    Value for Money

About fees , they are two modes of fee payment , one is management and the other is merit . Students need to write entrance exam . So admission requires 60% in 12th PCM and SRMJEEE exam. I got admission through merit , so for me it costs 1.75 lac per year , for four years its 7lac. I feel 1.75 lac per year is worth studying in srm. Worth the money. For management you just need ur 12th PCM 60% mark. It costs around 2lac . They even provide lots of scholarships for tallented students.

    Campus Life

Campus Life is bit boring , becus its not like other colleges where u can roam just like that. Srm vdp is a small college, but forum mall is there to hangout whenever you want, thats the only entertainment for srmites. Srm vdp is the safest among all the srm campuses, becus srm is surrounded by all the required facilities like hospital (SIMS) , next buliding itself you have metro station and bustand ,so transport becomes very easy for the students. On the whole its the best and safest college.

    Others

My own experience at the college is , i would say i have got the best opportunity in my life to study at srm with good and best supporting friends and faculties. They encourage us to do things and guide us in right path. Good department, books , subjects alone cant decide students future , students need best faculties and a guide to excel in all stages.

    College Infrastructure

The college infrastructure is not very appealing. Being in the middle of the city, the college has been allotted just a building with 4 floors. So the infrastructure is very limited. The Hostels are not situated on this campus. Students have their accommodations in the Ramapuram hostel and buses to transport them every day. The campus has a very good, spacious and hygienic canteen. The labs are spacious and all the classrooms are air-conditioned. The library contains all the required books.

    Academics

The faculties are well qualified and well organized. The teaching is great. Individual attention is given to the students. Faculties are always helpful and encouraging. Various workshops and development programs are conducted to equip the students with the knowledge required to be in par with the emerging trends. The curriculum is updated frequently to make the students job-ready.

    Placements

This campus has a great placement record. The percentage of the students placed this year was about 89%. With respect to Electronics and communication, the companies in which they got placed include, Wipro, TCS, CTS, Capgemini, Infosys, Renault Nissan, Verzeo, L&t, Wenger and Watson, Accenture, HP, etc., The average salary offered was 3.51L per annum.

    Value for Money

Compared to other campuses of SRM, the city campus is the cheapest and affordable. I paid about 1.75L per year. There are various scholarship offers that are easily attainable by the students. Though the college's infrastructure is not very appealing, the quality of teaching and the aid the college provides for every student makes it all worth the fees.

    Campus Life

The location of the college is well connected by metro and bus. The campus is highly safe and secure. It is capable of handling all sorts of emergencies. The college has very supportive staff and seniors. It is completely free from ragging and all other possible harassment. Due to the confined space and limited students, not many cultural events are organized. The organization of the existing events is also difficult.

    Others

If you are looking for a college with the best campus experience, cultural activities, hostels, and spacious classrooms, then, this might not be the place for you. However, if you are looking for a college with a good studying environment, aiding faculties, and need opportunities to develop your talent without any prior experience, then this is the place I recommend for you.

    College Infrastructure

The college is small in area as it is situated at the heart of the city. Few of the computer science labs have the latest technologies, the classrooms have projectors and it is fully air-conditioned. There are a few very or no extra-curricular activities.

    Academics

I am studying CS and the regulation I am enrolled in doesn't have the latest technologies covered in depth. The college was quick to fix it and my successive batch has few of the latest technologies. Considering this I am sure the curriculum will be updated as per the requirements, you can check the official website or reach out to them if you need specifics. The faculties do their bit but much can't be expected.

    Placements

SRM has a lot of offers coming in every year as it is one of the top colleges. The trend of the placements depend on the previous year so it'll always be a gamble but rest assured there is always a significant amount. The top package for the campus is 17.5 lakhs CTC but on an average, it's around 5-7 Lakhs. The placement process is easy and you will be notified about the companies.

    Campus Life

If you're looking for a campus where you want to be part of various clubs and take initiative or want to represent the college in various events, especially tech, then this college is advisable because of it's less strength and it's easier to reach out to the faculties in charge. However, this is a double-edged knife, since the strength is little and the campus is small your typical "college life" won't be available.

My experience in this college till now has been good.

    Verified Review
    College Infrastructure

Here, all necessary equipment and facilities are available. All classrooms are air-conditioned and have well-maintained projectors and facilities. Lift facility is available. There is a good library where you can get nearly all the books that the faculty recommend for exams. The food in the canteen is hygienic. The campus is not very spacious, though, which would be a preference for some people. Hostel facilities are good and transportation is available for hostelers.

    Academics

I'm currently pursuing B.Tech (ECE). The quality of teaching is good and academics is given a lot of importance here. Faculty are well-qualified but sometimes the teaching is not up to the mark. Tests are scheduled in an appropriate manner and it is made sure that every student attends all the tests. The curriculum is updated periodically and personality development or aptitude classes are conducted from a very early stage. However, teaching is more exam-oriented and less job-oriented.

    Placements

Placements here are very good. More than 500 very reputed companies like TCS, Wipro, Amazon, Google, etc. come for placements every year. Average salary is 5 lakhs per annum. Placement trainings for students are also very thorough and of good quality.

    Value for Money

The cost of my course per year is Rs.1,75,000. Students who excel in sports can get a 100% scholarship on entering the college and need not pay at all. Also, there are scholarships based on your SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) ie. your performance in the end semester exams and that can be availed at the end of each semester. However, the fees is much higher than that of Anna University affiliated colleges. Also, hostel and transportation fees is also very high. So value-for-money is low.

    Campus Life

The advantage of studying here is that it is located right at the heart of the city and has a metro station and a bus stop very close to it, so commute is easy. Also, just behind the college is Forum Mall so students can spend time there after college, which is usually the case. Faculty are helpful and approachable. Many technical clubs and events for students are there. One major negative is that co-curricular activities are very less because primary focus is on academics.

    Others

My experience has been good till now. There is a lot of recognition for excellence in academics here. Toppers are awarded on special occasions like the Annual Day. I was able to avail scholarships based on my semester exam results and that was a very good thing. You also get a lot of exposure about various things once you join SRM.

Have a question related to SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Vadapalani Campus ?

Cut off mark for ECE course Caste : BC

    Hi candidate,

T he cutoff marks depends on many factors like:

    • The entrance examination you have appeared for.
    • The level of the questions
    • Number of the candidates appeared
    • The category and PWD status of the candidate
    • The score and rank of the candidate (if cutoff is clear)

As you have mentioned only your cast, so it is difficult to query your doubt with the best way possible.

ECE stands for Electronics and Communication Engineering is a field of engineering where students are taught with the working electrical components and there practical implimentation.

However, in background you can also practice data structures and certain computer science courses to have a chance for working in IT industry.
