faculty is capable, the lack of modern infrastructure

      College Infrastructure

Science and engineering labs often have outdated instruments, limiting students' hands-on experience with new technology. Upgrading labs with AI, IoT, robotics, and automation tools can improve practical learning. Similarly, computer labs should have high-performance systems to support coding, AI, and data science projects.

      Academics

The faculty members in the institution demonstrate strong potential with their knowledge and dedication to student learning. They are well-qualified and committed to delivering quality education. However, limited resources often restrict their ability to provide practical and research-based learning experiences.

      Placements

One major concern is the poor placement scenario. The lack of strong industry connections, internship opportunities, and skill development programs affects students' employability. Many companies do not visit for campus recruitment, and those that do offer low-paying roles that do not align with students’ qualifications. The absence of career guidance, resume-building workshops, and technical training further weakens job prospects.

One the the finest Institution in state.

      College Infrastructure

Gec Bilaspur is one of the oldest technical institution in the state. It has well equipped classrooms and labs. During our graduation tenure there was constant upgradation from smart board in classrooms to new software in labs. Being a government institution these changes do sometimes gets trapped in red tapism and a lagness of approval but development has always been in positive curvature.

      Academics

There is good student to teacher ratio. There is a good mix of permanent and adhoc staff. College in past years has gained multiple accreditations such as NBA . Being affiliated with csvtu there is some lag in upgradation of course , some important new age paramount studies such as AI is missing but , slowing revamping of course is underway .

      Placements

Placement is an issue . There was good placements in past year but it has declined to some extent . But teachers cooperate to their fullest to inculcate skills and help to prepare for job expectations. There are frequent workshops focusing on sharping entrepreneurial skills and being corporate ready.

      Value for Money

Fee is very less and education fee is waived off for female and category candidates. There is various scholarships that one can take benefit of. There is no better value for money college except few in state.

      Campus Life

One of the good institution where ragging is absent. A very positive atmosphere with round the year events and spaces to play and spend leisure time. A good bonding among various years and among different branches.

Very good college if belonging to lower middle class.

      College Infrastructure

The college is one of the oldest colleges of Central India so the infrastructure is not that good as compared to private colleges but renovation works are also not properly handled and this is one of the main issues.

      Academics

Overall the academics part is very good from civil engineering point of view. The regular lectures were from IITs and NITs which gave edge over private colleges in the locality but the temporary teachers were not upto tha mark.

      Placements

The placement cell of GECB is the worst performing area of the college and it needs to be looked upon. The companies don't usually visit the campus because mostly it's not feasible to come to bilaspur.

      Value for Money

Overall from academics and fee waiver poini of view the college is very good for students and value for money since 90% students are not even paying a single penny for complete engineering degree. Excellent

      Campus Life

The 2nd most underperforming issue about the college is having no proper campus life, situated in Birkona village the campus is open to villagers and no proper entry or exit points with seurity is present.

      College Infrastructure

College campus is vast with 2 building for academic. 1st building (old building) comprises of administrative section along with mechanical, civil, chemical and mining departments and 2nd building (IT building) comprises of CS, IT and ECE departments. All the necessary facilities are available in the college. Laboratories are equipped with all instruments and equipments required as per the curriculum. Campus has wifi connections and many classrooms are equipped with smart boards.

      Academics

Quality of teaching is good with highly knowledgeable professors. All professors (full time professors) have M.Tech/PhD degrees from NITs/IITs. College is affiliated to CSVTU Bhilai thus it follows the curriculum set by the university.

      Placements

On-campus placements are low as most of the students opt for higher studies or PSUs. The number of companies visiting campus is also low, with most of them being from IT domain. Few companies had visited the mechanical and civil branches also in the past.

Best days of my life was in this college.

      College Infrastructure

The college has an old infrastructure, with most buildings showing signs of wear. While it has necessary facilities like labs and workshops, they are outdated and could benefit from modernization. A new building has been constructed for the CS and IT branches, offering better facilities, but the rest of the campus still reflects its age. Upgrading the older structures and equipment would significantly improve the overall learnig environment.

      Academics

Academic wise it one of the best colleges after IIT and NIT. All the teachers have Master's Degree from reputed colleges and have very good conceptual clarity. Though work can be done on the practical part of the subject which is sometimes ignored.

      Placements

Placement for CS and IT branch has been good during our time but for core subjects like mechanical and civil, the college can approach better and more companies offering decent packages. My experience regarding placement was good but I didn't join.

      Value for Money

Since it is a government funded institute, the fees is minimal.

      Campus Life

Could be better but still I have enjoyed my time of my life there

Best govt college in chhattisgarh for engineering

      College Infrastructure

College Insfrastructure is average as the college has been established in the year 1964 and not well maintained. Same goes with the hostels. But i think academic facilities are more important rather than college infra.

      Academics

Academics are good as comapared to other colleges in chhattisgarh. Practical labs are also up to the mark. Faculties are also experienced and supportive. Overall a good vibe for the students to study here.

      Placements

JMS, TMC, Gainwell and other mining and cement companies participate in campus placement so good opportunity for mining engineers also you can go for GATE exam it is best option in todays scenerio beacause CIL is recruiting every year in bulk.

      Value for Money

College is value for money as overall fee is very less as compared to other colleges and scholarships are also available.

      Campus Life

      Good.

      Others

You can go for it if you want to do engineering from chhattisgarh.

Overall it was an average experience for me

      College Infrastructure

A significant amount of restoration needs to be done when it comes to infrastructure. During the rainy season, the walls leak, creating an unpleasant learning environment. Despite this, the college campus is quite large, comprising two buildings. The main building houses all the core branches, while the second building is dedicated to IT, Electronics & Telecommunication, and CSE departments. The college offers adequate lab facilities across all departments. These labs provide students with valuable hands-on learning experiences, reinforcing theoretical concepts through practical application. The availability of well-equipped labs ensures that students from different branches have access to essential tools and resources to enhance their technical skills. In addition to the labs, the college has a library that serves as a useful academic resource. It has got a variety of books, journals, and research materials, supporting students in their studies. Furthermore, the dedicated study area provides a quiet space for students to utilize during off-hours or free periods. This allows them to engage in self-study, group discussions, or research work in a focused environment.

      Academics

The academics for core branches are good enough, with experienced faculty members ensuring a stable learning environment. However, when it comes to CSE and IT, there is room for improvement. More emphasis needs to be placed on practical learning rather than just theoretical memorization. Overall, while the foundation is there, raising the bar for CSE and IT by prioritizing practical exposure would better prepare students for real-world challenges

      Placements

The placement opportunities for CS, IT, and Electronics branches need significant improvement. While some students manage to secure jobs through campus recruitment, the number of quality offers remains low. One of the key issues is the lack of strong industry connections and training programs. More focus should be placed on skill development, resume building, and interview preparation. Additionally, inviting more companies for internships and full-time roles would greatly benefit students.

      Value for Money

being a government college it offers great value for money, providing decent infrastructure, adequate labs, and academic resources at a very reasonable cost.

      Campus Life

The campus life at the college is fairly average. While the campus is spacious and has the necessary academic facilities, there is a lack of vibrant student activities and engagement outside of the classroom. Events, clubs, and extracurricular opportunities are limited, which affects the overall student experience. More student-driven events, technical fests, and industry interactions could make campus life more dynamic and engaging. With some effort, the college can create a more lively and well-rounded atmosphere for students.

      College Infrastructure

The campus is huge. There are two buildings. One is the main building that has Civil, Mechanical, Mining and Electrical branches,an auditorium, library, reading room and a garden. It also has badminton court and football ground. The other building is the IT building which has IT, Electronics and CS branches. The labs are well equipped. Indoor sports and volleyball facilities are here. There is also a ground near the boys' hostel which is used for cricket. The girls's and boys' hostels are nearby and decent.

      Academics

The faculties here are amazing. Almost all have done M.Tech or Ph.D. from IITs. They knowledgeable, experienced and are eager to help and guide you anytime. The curriculum is good. The education quality is very good. The college is affiliated to CSVTU which is in Bhilai.

      Placements

Not many companies arrive for campus placements as most students don't opt for it. Some companies do come on campus but the average is around 6-7 LPA and mostly in IT and CS engineering. During my time many students got placed in Mechanical and civil also. It can be improved.

      Value for Money

Being a reputed government college, it is worth every rupee spent. The fees is minimal and the whole course costs less than a lakh rupees. The college has a good alumni network and a lot of them are working in PSUs.

      Campus Life

The campus is huge and the campus life is amazing. The badminton court is just outside the classrooms and it is huge. Students often gather here in between breaks. The canteen is decent. The college is a bit far from city which is around 4 kilometres but the college area has almost everything you might need - stationery shops, good food joints and restaurents, supermarket, grocery shops, PGs and flats for rent, so students dont have to go to city for minor things. The area around the college has multiple other colleges so alot of students are there and overall it is a very good area.

      College Infrastructure

Government engineering colleges have every required infrastructure that a student needs for its smooth study environment, the college has sophisticated labs, sports and other clubs, accessible library and it's own play ground.

      Academics

Government engineering College provides courses in all the 6 branches of Engineering which includes Mechanical, civil , electrical etc. With experienced faculty.the quality of teaching is very good .Updated curriculum

      Placements

No.placement . A minimum number of companies come to hire and the placement ratio is very much less in comparison to other colleges. There is placement cell but still need to improve the placement conditions

      Value for Money

The fee structure is very affordable as it is a government regulated college. It is very much less in comparison to the other private colleges.

      College Infrastructure

There are Two Accademic buildings in College one for( Mechanical, Electrical ,Civil and Mining) and one for ( Electronics,Comp. Science and IT) branch. Each department have sufficient number of rooms including regular classroom, labs and as a store room. Since College has Established during 60s so, Building of core branches is getting very old and at some areas there are lot of cracks. Court or developed ground is not present for any game. Students use Open areas for ground purpose under campus.

      Academics

Professors of Core branches are very experienced. Course and syllabus is not up to date but, This part comes under CSVTU Technical University under which college is affiliated. Regular classes are organised and Labs also once a week for each subjects. So overall academic is too good. Also There are two Libraries one for all students and one for st/sc students . Since College comes under TEQIP 3, therefore lot of teachers (NITs or IITs passout) recruited for college enhances quality of teaching.l

      Placements

Only few companies visited each year with low packages. And mainly for IT,CS and ET&T and Mining branches. There is a placement cell in college but there is a requirement to develop image of college at professional level so that Companies get attracted.

      Value for Money

One need to pay very less amount according to education and facilities. Scholarship holders need to pay negligible amount. ST/SC students get free stationary each year.

      Campus Life

Only a technical fest kaushalam and annual sports pravah is organised. And rest of the days are very boring.

      Others

College is good for value for money. And also for Academics and other co-curricular activities are not be a part of GEC BILASPUR. Despite students of GEC BILASPUR are very talented in field of studies as well as co curricular activities.
