Government Engineering College, Patan has a training and placement cell that conducts the placement drive on the campus. GEC Patan placement cell is in charge of all aspects of campus recruitment at the institute, as well as enhancing students' skills to meet industry demands through a variety of seminars and workshops, including KCG's Finishing School (GoG) Programmes. Through the placement cell, the College makes students constantly aware of the changing trends and demands of the industry so as to equip them with the highest level of potential for cracking the tough selection procedures. Experts from within the industry regularly visit the college for talks, seminars, and interactive sessions which immensely help job seekers in their preparations for the same.

The placement cell at GEC Patan provides training on aptitude, technical, communication, logical and verbal reasoning, and soft skills to final-year students. It assists in improving the employability of the students by organizing special training with the help of experts from industries. The detailed GEC Patan placement procedure is provided below.

GEC Patan Placement Procedure

• Companies or organisations receive invitations from the GEC Patan placement cell, along with relevant information.

• A JAF (Job Announcement Form) is filled out by the company or organisation and it contains information about the job offer (pay package, place of posting, allowances and other bonuses). JAF can be mailed or emailed to the training and placement cell at GEC Patan.

• Pre-placement talks are scheduled ahead of time or on the same day as the placement. The company/organisation sends a request with preferred dates to schedule a pre-placement talk in advance.

• The JAF, as well as any other information provided by the company/organisation, is made available to students online. The placement service is available to all GEC Patan students in accordance with the placement policy.

• The training and placement cell announces the dates for campus interviews after receiving confirmation from the company/organisation.   The order in which companies are invited for placement is decided jointly by the TPC and the Principal; and is based on a variety of factors such as the pay package offered, student demand, and the company's profile.

• Interested students show their willingness to participate in a company's recruitment process by submitting the sign-up form or a google form created for the purpose.

• On request, the company/organisation can receive a list of interested students and/or shortlisted students (if the shortlisting is based on percentage/grades obtained).

• Companies conduct aptitude/technical tests/personal interviews/group discussions as part of their selection procedure when they come to campus on the designated dates.

• The company must provide the final list of students as soon as possible after the interview, preferably on the day of the interview, with the joining date and any other terms and conditions, if any. Within a set timeframe the company sends the offer letter to the training and placement cell.
