I would suggest that you renew it as fast as possible because even though it's just the counselling process that's taking long, you certificate may be considered null if you don't renew it by the time counselling ends. Yes you can do apply in armed forces doctor position after pg.

But the criteria there

• You have to qualify the PC and SSC examination.
• After that they will call you the interview round
• After passing the interview you can go for medical test. If you are selected there then you can join this.
• But the UG candidates age not more than 30 years and pg candidates age not more than 35 years.

Super-Speciality aspirants joining courses at Government medical college in Tamil Nadu will have to now promise a bond service for a whooping 10 years. Moreover, failure to carry out the agreement service will bring a massive penalty of Rs 2 crores.The bond service and corresponding penalty was brought to light by a letter written by the Dean, Madras Medical College to all the stakeholders including HODs, MSs of allied institutions with copies being sent to Vice Principal, Administrative officer, Junior Administrative Officers and Wardens at Madras Medical College.

Hostels or PG both are dependent on the choice of the student. If you choose to live alone and to avoid disturbance or want to have more privacy then you can opt for PG.
