The VITS Polytechnic, Satna, was set up in 2016 and is an affiliated college situated at Satna in Madhya Pradesh. In this technical institute, admissions are required for the diploma programmes in different branches of engineering offered here and recognised by AICTE. Located on a small plot of 2 acres, the polytechnic has an overall student strength of 490 and faculty of 51. The institute offers five full-time diploma courses, all of which are of three-year duration and are in the specialisations of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mining and mine surveying, civil Engineering.

The VITS Polytechnic is concerned with fulfilling all its students state-of-the-art facilities so that they may have a conducive environment to learn in. There are two different hostels for the boys and the girls, in order to provide accommodation to the distant students. The boys hostel, known as Vivekanand Hostel, is situated inside the campus, while the girls’ hostel is in the city. The two mentioned hostels include well-furnished rooms with individual lockers and study tables, and also the hot water supply by solar water heaters.

There is also a well-provided gym on campus to ensure that the students are in proper health contact for some activities. For academic activities, it has a spacious central library that contains more than 52,000 books and subscribes to more than 250 general and technical journals. It is a computerised library and has e-journals through INDEST and DELNET sources, thus providing students with many resources for study.

At down time, the VITS Polytechnic provides five diploma courses, which are all full-time. These are Diploma in Mechanical Engineering; Diploma in Electrical Engineering; Diploma in Mining and Mine Surveying; Diploma in Civil Engineering; Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering. Each course requires prior approval for intakes, and 60 students have been approved in each course for all programmes, resulting in 300 students. The institute also has the mission of offering professional education and career preparation meant for sector practice.

The process of taking admission at the VITS Polytechnic, Satna, is therefore as open and flexible as possible for the desired students. Admission procedure is not described in detail, and, however, admitting students to the polytechnic institutes, ranks can be given based on the entrance exams or previous academic performance. For any details on deadlines and the requirements for application and the entrance examinations possibly accepted, the students have to visit the institute’s official website, or they can refer to the admission team of the institute. This is evidenced by the AICTE approval, which has enhanced the quality of technical education offered by the institute so that courses offered comply with the set engineering course standards across the country.
