The academic environment at SGSITS Indore leaves much to be desired. Many faculty members rely on outdated teaching methods, simply reading from slides without encouraging critical thinking or practical application. Syllabus coverage is often incomplete, with portions left untouched before exams. Students are expected to rely heavily on self-study and private coaching to actually understand the subjects. Internal assessment systems lack transparency, and feedback on performance is rarely constructive. Industry exposure through guest lectures, workshops, and internship guidance is minimal. Project work is treated as a formality rather than a genuine learning opportunity. The gap between what is taught in classrooms and what the industry actually demands is alarmingly wide. For an institution with such a long-standing reputation in Madhya Pradesh, the quality of academics has clearly declined over the years and needs immediate structural reform to stay relevant.
College Infra
The infrastructure at SGSITS Indore is significantly outdated and in need of urgent attention. Several classrooms suffer from poor lighting, broken furniture, and inadequate ventilation. Laboratory equipment is aging, with many instruments either non-functional or insufficient for the student strength. The campus buildings show visible signs of wear — cracked walls, leaking roofs during monsoons, and poorly maintained washrooms. Wi-Fi connectivity is unreliable across most academic blocks, hampering modern learning. Parking facilities are cramped and disorganized. While the institution has a strong academic legacy, the physical infrastructure does not meet the standards expected of a premier government engineering college. Serious investment and renovation are long overdue to provide students with a conducive and dignified learning environment.
Campus Life
The campus life at SGSITS Indore is dull and uninspiring, offering very little beyond the bare minimum. Student clubs and societies exist mostly on paper, with activities rarely organized in a meaningful or consistent manner. Cultural and technical festivals lack proper funding, enthusiasm, and institutional support, making them underwhelming compared to events at peer institutions. Sports facilities are neglected and poorly maintained, discouraging students from pursuing physical activities and extracurriculars. The college canteen offers limited and often unhygienic food options at unreasonable prices. Hostel conditions are substandard, with issues like water shortage, poor sanitation, slow internet, and outdated infrastructure being common complaints. There is very little mentorship or counseling support available for students struggling academically or mentally. The overall atmosphere on campus feels stagnant and demotivating, with no strong sense of community or college pride among students. A vibrant campus life is essential for holistic development, and SGSITS sadly falls far short of creating that environment for its students.
Placements
The placement scenario at SGSITS Indore is deeply disappointing and far below expectations for a government engineering college of its reputation. Very few companies visit the campus for recruitment, and most of those that do offer extremely low salary packages that barely meet industry standards. Core engineering companies are almost entirely absent from the placement drive, leaving students with limited options outside of IT service roles. The Training and Placement Cell shows little proactive effort in attracting reputed recruiters or building strong corporate connections. Pre-placement training and mock interview sessions are infrequent and poorly organized. A large percentage of students are left to find jobs entirely on their own through off-campus efforts. Higher studies and competitive exams have become the only viable fallback for many graduates. The college does little to bridge the gap between students and meaningful career opportunities, which is a serious disservice to hardworking students who invested years and money into their education here
Value For Money
SGSITS Indore offers very poor value for the money spent by students and their families. Despite paying substantial tuition fees, hostel charges, and various other levies every semester, the return in terms of quality education, infrastructure, and career support is highly inadequate. The facilities provided do not justify the costs — classrooms are outdated, labs lack modern equipment, and basic amenities on campus are poorly maintained. There is no significant investment visible in upgrading the learning environment or enhancing student experience. The placement outcomes are weak, meaning students often graduate without a job in hand despite years of financial sacrifice. Extra charges are frequently collected for events, exams, and activities that add little real value. When compared to private colleges offering similar or better facilities at comparable fees, SGSITS fails to stand out. For middle-class families who bank on government colleges for quality education at reasonable cost, this institution unfortunately does not deliver on that promise. A serious reassessment of how student fees are utilized is urgently needed.
