Travancore Engineering College (TEC), Kollam, offers a systematic and merit-based admission process for its engineering courses. The college, sanctioned by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), includes a well-demarcated procedure for selection through entrance examination merit as well as academic records.
Travancore Engineering College's admission process generally familiarises itself with the dates of the Kerala Engineering, Architecture & Medical (KEAM) examinations. Eligibility qualifications for admission to the B-tech programmes of TEC are the successful completion of 10+2 or its equivalent qualification with compulsory subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
All B. Tech disciplines at Travancore Engineering College will admit students based on their KEAM score. All these associated applications fall under one main entry point to be used as an admission portal for engineering students aspiring for entrance to this. Applicants have to diligently advance their studies in preparation for the KEAM exam syllabus pertaining specifically to subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the 10+2 level.
This is the process by which Travancore Engineering College takes admission from students.
Travancore Engineering College provides four B.Tech. programmes: Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The Travancore Engineering College admission procedure for all B.Tech. Programmes are uniform and are based on KEAM scores. The entire approved intake for each of these programmes adds to 195 seats, distributed as follows:
Here is the list of documents needed for Travancore Engineering College admissions.
Hello,
Other than Computer Science, some of the best B.Tech courses are:
Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) – Good for jobs in telecom, robotics, and hardware.
Mechanical Engineering – Core branch with opportunities in manufacturing, design, and production.
Civil Engineering – Best for construction, infrastructure, and government jobs.
Electrical Engineering (EE) – In demand for power plants, energy, and automation fields.
Information Technology (IT) – Similar to CSE but focuses more on software applications.
Artificial Intelligence and Data Science – Fast-growing field with good future scope.
Biotechnology – Great for research, pharma, and healthcare sectors.
Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering – For those interested in aircraft and space technology.
Your choice should depend on your interests and career goals.
Hope it helps !
Yes Gaurav, you can go for B.Tech after ITI, but not directly. The usual route is through Diploma + Lateral Entry. After completing ITI, you are eligible to join a Diploma/Polytechnic course in the related branch. Once you finish the diploma, you can apply for lateral entry admission in B.Tech, which means you can start directly from the second year of engineering instead of the first year.
However, admission depends on a few things – the trade you completed in ITI, your marks/percentage, and the state or university rules. Some states conduct lateral entry exams (like LEET), and some colleges have their own criteria. So, first you need to check which diploma courses match your ITI trade, and then plan for lateral entry into B.Tech.
If you share your state and ITI trade, it will be easier to suggest the exact process and colleges for you.
There is no 11th B.Tech, if you want to enroll in B.Tech course, you must passed 12th Class from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics ( PCM ). Some colleges take entrance exam scores like JEE, KEAM or WBJEE. You can also apply directly on the college website for management quota.
