hlwo aspirant

hope you are doing well

. both colleges are equally good in terms of academics. The faculty is well-qualified and cooperative in both NIT raipur and IIEST Shibpur with a slight difference.

As per the NIT Raipur placements BTech course in Computer Science & Engineering is best because of the maximum number of offers. so if you are interested in cs then go for nit raipur

if you are interested in research then IIEST Shibpur is best for you. But lastly, your efforts to develop skills in yourself matter immensely, as you are the only person who needs to do hard work. If you do not then even the best college in the country would not help. .

IIEST was always among the top Institutes proving excellent education in engineering

IIEST Shibpur receives similar funding as compared to IIT's which is 40% more than NIT raipur. The campus of Shibpur is much cleaner and greener and the crowd is also better. The hostels of Shibpur are much better than rai pur. Placements are more or less similar in both colleges.

so I'll suggest you to go in iiest shibpur for mechanical engineering. .

hope this helps you

all the very best for your upcoming future

Hello Aspirant,

If you are interested in computer science, I will suggest that you enrol in IT at Iiest Shibpur. Because CSE and IT professionals consistently receive high positions and compensation. IIest Shibpur is a subject I know little about. But NIT Durgapur's IT was excellent. Infrastructure-wise, it is good, and so are the faculties. Furthermore, NiT Durgapur's IT placement rates are excessively high. If your coding abilities are strong, you'll get an excellent job with a high salary. So, if you enjoy computer science and coding, consider a career in IT.

Infrastructure-wise, ECE at NIT Durgapur is in decent shape. Faculty members are friendly and highly qualified. In terms of placements, ECE offers solid options. Not, however, CSE and IT. Furthermore, ECE is not permitted by any CSE or IT firms. So, compared to CSE and IT, ECE has a few less enterprises. But ECE employees receive competitive pay.

As a result of MOUs between NIT Durgapur and foreign universities, you may be able to obtain some international internships. For internships and placements, reputable businesses and PSUs visit. You can look at NIT Durgapur's placement rates.

At last it’s your decision to take which branch you have most interest. Choose accordingly.

Hope this helps,

All the best.

Dear aspirant !

Hope you are doing well ! Faculties are very supportive of nit Durgapur ,i will prefer nit Durgapur ,

Its placements are also good and you are getting ECE so without any second thought you can go there . Faculties are good since it is old nit and has a good reputation in India as well as abroad. Campus is also nice as I know it you will get ample opportunities . It's average package is 8 LPA for ece .

Hope it helps you !

Thank you !

Hello,

To be honest in this rank you can hardly get any college being from general category. If your home state belongs to one of these like Mizoram, Agartala , Manipur, Meghalaya then it is possible that you can get any college but i would suggest to go for private colleges rather than going for these if you don't have any financial issues.

If you want to check out the colleges you can get , you can check out the link given below -

Hello,

I advise you to join CSE at nit durgapur because you should always give first preference to the branch you are receiving.

However, when we side-by-side compare the two with regard to placements, we can find that NIT DGP CSE prevails over IIEST IT. Every top-tier tech company visits NIT DGP for placements and internships. Campus placements are overall better for NIT DGP CSE, as compared to not only IIEST SHIBPUR IT, but also IIEST SHIBPUR CSE.

Coding Culture: A college's coding culture is the key for CSE students. NIT DGP succeeds here as well.

The NIT name will be much more widely recognised across the nation, and NIT DGP is an established NIT (formerly REC) with a solid reputation in the business. Even though IIEST isn't bad, the NIT designation is preferable. However, in the long run, I believe that only your hard work will matter—not the college or the tag.

Now it is your decision. Hope this helps. All the best.

Hello Aspirant,

Hope you are doing well!

I must say that you have very good chances of admission in the IIT's and NIT's with this rank according to the previous year cutoff trends.

We cannot give you surety but if we look at previous year cutoff trends, you have high chnaces of admission in IIT's.

Kindly visit the link given below to predict your chances of admission in other colleges:

Hope this will help.

Hello Aspirant,

Considering that you have mentioned your OBC rank because OBC rank is to be considered for allotment, if it is CRL rank then kindly correct me in the comment section below.

As we go through the latest cut-offs of JEE-Main 2021 of JOSAA 6th round then it shows that the closing OBC rank for Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur in 2021 was around 24.5k under Home state quota, so with the mentioned OBC rank you have very less chances to get Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur.

You can check out the latest cut-offs from the link given below :-

https://josaa.admissions.nic.in/Counseling/seatallotmentresult/currentorcr.aspx

Note that the above prediction is made on the basis of latest cut-offs available on official website of JOSAA or CSAB and the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors such as the number of candidates appearing in an examination, the number of candidates qualifying an examination, difficulty level of the paper, and so on.

To have a list of all those colleges which you can get based upon your JEE-Main score or rank you can use JEE-Main College Predictor:-

As the cut-offs are released along with the JEE-Main 2022 result so now you can check whether you have qualified for JEE-Advance 2022 or not, JEE-Main 2022 qualifying cut-offs are enlisted below :-

==>> Common Rank List (CRL) -  88.4121383 percentile

==>> GEN-EWS - 63.1114141 Percentile

==>> Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) - 67.0090297  Percentile

==>> Scheduled Caste (SC) - 43.0820954 Percentile

==>> Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 26.7771328 Percentile

==>> PwD - 0.0031029 Percentile

You can check out previous year's cut-off trends from the link given below :-

I hope this information helps you.

Good Luck!!

Hello Aspirant,

See it is quite difficult to predict your exact figure of rank because it keeps on changing every year depending upon various factors but yes we can help you with approximate figures on the basis of analysis of previous year's data.

So If we go through the analysis of marks Vs Percentile Vs rank for JEE-Main 2021 then according to the percentile mentioned by you in the question your SC rank is expected to be in the range of 2500-3000 .

As we go through the latest cut-offs of JEE-Main 2021 of JOSAA 6th round then it shows that you have NO chances to get IIEST Shibpur with CSE branch even under Home state, SC and female quota because last year the closing SC rank for Home state female was around 1500 for CSE branch..

Good Luck!!

IIEST Shibpur, Howrah, West Bengal is an institute of national importance under the MoE, Government of India. Securing 78 percentile lands you around a CRL rank of 225060 - 253000 according to the previous year trends it is not possible to secure a seat through JoSSA counselling.

See JEE Main rank predictor: https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor

You may however try applying for the CSAB counselling in your home state quota for the left out seats, but I warn you this is a lot of risk as there is no guarantee of a seat at your rank. Also you haven't specified your category, but a few program that exited with very low cutoff are mention here:

  • Mechanical Engineering (4 Years, Bachelor of Technology) - HS - ST (271581)
  • Metallurgy and Materials Engineering (4 Years, Bachelor of Technology) - OS - ST (254417)

**Remember these low ranks do not mean the same case happens this year too, there are multiple factors determining the opening and closing ranks every year.

You can also participate in counselling for your home state engineering colleges (I cannot specify as you haven't provided your state) which accept students for good courses at your rank.

Hope it helps.

Regards,

Hello Shubham

No, admission is not made through WEBJEE as IIEST only accepts applicants based on JEE.

Since 2015, IIEST Shibpur no longer accepts applications through the WBJEE. JEE Mains is used for admissions to IIEST Shibpur's dual degree programmes.

I hope this answers your question.

Thanks

College Infrastructure

Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology situated in Shibpur Having good infrastructure.Certainly lacks the facility & infrastructure of a top notch institute (refers to my dept.-archi), and heard a lot of complaints from my B.Tech friends about the placement department, which I presume is true to a large extent, although the new INI tag will be able to solve the problem, hopefully. But, students here get one hell of an experience of the hostel life, senior-junior relationship is something we learn to treasure and cherish.

Good college

College Infrastructure

Our college having great infrastructure with all the facilities are available. Library is very well maintained with all books and papers you need with space to study there as well. Hostels on the other hand really need serious maintainance. The food quality is very bad to average. Drinking water is not very good as well. There are no well made tables or chairs in hostels, you have to buy them on your own. For sports there are 2 big grounds where you can play cricket and football. There is separate court for basketball and one for badminton. Except these there isn't anything else in sports department.

It was pretty good experience.

College Infrastructure

Great Infrastructure but placements should be improved as there was no placement in 2020 for Applied Geology. I am pretty sure the engineering departments are very much good at infrastructure but the university authorities must pay attention t the science departments as well.
