Dear aspirant,
Metallurgy at iiest is the better option than mechanical at nit. Iiest has the best faculty to teach, best lav equipment, good environment for studies. Hope it helps you.
Thank you.

Hello Darshan,
I can tell you about the advantages that you face in the open when you have the degree bearing the name of IIEST. Civil Engineering has been the pride of the institute ever since its inception, and the faculty is quite good except a couple which I believe are similar exists even in IITs. But in general, there are lots of projects to work on and the teachers generally show enthusiasm in dealing with these projects. Besides, the institute has gained central status, I believe with time, the standard of teaching and research will only get better with time.
Apart from this, I would also like to tell you about:
Careers360 is coming up with India's Biggest Talent Search Exam-"CTSE" where aspirants of JEE and NEET 2020/21 can take the test and win prizes & scholarships worth 1.25 crores. Students studying in class 11th, 12th and 12th droppers can appear for this exam. They will get to know where they stand in terms of preparation and competition. Every student will have to pay a nominal fee of rupees 100/- and in return, he will get Paytm cashback offers worth rupees 250* and prizes include: cash, laptops, smartphones, amazon echos, Careers360 almanacs, power banks and more.

Dipmalya,

Last year cut off for various branches in IIEST shibpur general for other state was

Aerospace Engineering  13560

Civil Engineering  31632

 Computer Science and Engineering  12339

 Electrical Engineering  20802

 Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering  17628

 Information Technology 16540

 Mechanical Engineering  20844

 Metallurgy and Materials Engineering 35030

Mining Engineering  36714

So as you can see you can't get Civil there.

If you belong to West Bengal still you can't get civil there as closing rank was 36K.

You should still apply for iiiest you may get it... or you can get mining engineering there.

Dear,

IIEST is a good college but placements are better in NITs. Some top NITs are:

1.National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli
Tamil Nadu
2.National Institute of Technology Rourkela Odisha
3.National Institute of Technology Karnataka-Karnataka
4.National Institute of Technology Warangal-Telangana

Some NIT's like warangal trichupalli and more are better than IIEST but IIEST stand's tall when compared with NIT which are newly opened or are not so impressive.

Hope this helps!

Hi

Who told you that you can apply online for admission at IIEST?

As a student of IIEST Shibpur, let me tell you that, you have to appear in JEE Mains examination to be eligible for admission in BTech at IIEST Shibpur which be through JoSAA or CSAB. There is no other entrance examination for the same. For MTech you have to take GATE. And for PhD courses, you can apply in the college directly. Otherwise there is no such options.

Best of Luck.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

Hey Farhan,

NIT Patna is no doubt a very good college but still IIEST Shibpur has got an upper hand instead. If we talk in terms of ranking, then IIEST takes a lead over NIT Patna and obviously the degree holds a national level importance too.

You can compare both the colleges here.

Hope it helped..

Both the colleges are good for pursuing engineering. Both the colleges are well known in  India.
The electrical department of IIEST is considered to be the best branch of this college. The placement have been good with the companies like Microsoft, samsung, Maruti Suzuki, L and T, Tata Steel etc. The new training and placement cell is formed which increases the placement in the campus.

Hello,

IIEST shibpur is ranked significantly more better than nit patna.

IIEST shibpur has a edge over nit patna over these aspects -

  • Much larger amount of research projects
  • More faculty with phd
  • Very descent placements of about 6 lakhs per year
  • Far better consultancy projects
  • Highly specialised labs and research centres like SAIF, CEGESS etc
  • No ragging, free wi fi
  • More prominent infrastructure.

IIEST is more better choice to go with.

Hope this helped.

Good luck

College Infrastructure

Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology situated in Shibpur Having good infrastructure.Certainly lacks the facility & infrastructure of a top notch institute (refers to my dept.-archi), and heard a lot of complaints from my B.Tech friends about the placement department, which I presume is true to a large extent, although the new INI tag will be able to solve the problem, hopefully. But, students here get one hell of an experience of the hostel life, senior-junior relationship is something we learn to treasure and cherish.

Good college

College Infrastructure

Our college having great infrastructure with all the facilities are available. Library is very well maintained with all books and papers you need with space to study there as well. Hostels on the other hand really need serious maintainance. The food quality is very bad to average. Drinking water is not very good as well. There are no well made tables or chairs in hostels, you have to buy them on your own. For sports there are 2 big grounds where you can play cricket and football. There is separate court for basketball and one for badminton. Except these there isn't anything else in sports department.

It was pretty good experience.

College Infrastructure

Great Infrastructure but placements should be improved as there was no placement in 2020 for Applied Geology. I am pretty sure the engineering departments are very much good at infrastructure but the university authorities must pay attention t the science departments as well.
