Hello,
NIT Bhopal Electrical better than IIEST on many parameters. NIT Bhopal is one of the Tier 2 NITs in India and thus it's core branch like Electrical are very good. While IIEST is one of the oldest colleges of India, it was primarily setup as basic science college with focus on higher research in fields like Physics, Maths and Chemistry. Also the placement of NIT Bhopal will be far better than IISER due to the strong alumni network , Thus choosing a technical course there, is not very much appreciable, especially if you have the option of choosing NIT.

I would suggest you to choose NIT Bhopal if those are the only two options.
Thank You

Dear Aspirant

First of all Congratulating you on your nice performance and I would like to tell you that based on choice of two colleges provided above, if you were to take my opinion, I would suggest you to take admission in Jadavpur University because this university is ranked above various iits and nits in terms of everything and is one of the best college in West Bengal, at the same time mechanical engineering is core branch unlike information technology so, go for it.

Good luck for your counselling procedure :)

Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.

Dear aspirant your rank is not good enough to get a seat in nit or gftis or iiest. You can only take admission in private colleges like vitee, kit etc. You may give other government exams like wbjee, comedk etc for state government colleges. You don't have any chance in mains

Hello,

The overall placement in IIEST is pretty average. Thus you cannot consider a very handsome package with M.sc in chemistry. I come from a physics background and what I know about there is that most people in M.Sc in IIEST go for higher studies and some even try UPSC. This more or less sums up if the course of M.Sc is made for Jobs. You can still get placed in mass recruiters coming to college and some other jobs in the academic sector. Since the course is not job oriented, you cannot expect a very good placement.

Thank You

Hello aspirant!!
Since you have opted for large no.of of courses but u got mms then it is fine but I would like to suggest you to wait for last round as there is fair chances that u will get mechanical engineering so go for it.
Good luck!!

Hi aspirant,

At this rank, you might get the following branches( considering you're not from West Bengal):

  • Civil
  • Metallurgical and Materials
  • Mining

Keeping in mind that cut-offs have decreased as compared to last year, You might just get Electrical at IIEST Shibpur.

All the best

Hi Abhishek,

If you got a seat in IIEST shibpur in josaa first round then you have to report at the reporting center. IIEST shibpur comes under the NIT+ system. so you have to report at the following reporting centers. here I will provide the link for the reporting centers list.

https://josaa.nic.in/webinfocms/Handler/FileHandler.ashx?i=File&ii=154&iii=Y

Once you go through this link and check the reporting center which is near to your home town. Then it is easier for you.

thank you.

Hi

Well, around 100+ in the first year. No wonder why this is so popular among them. But there are other regional groups too. So the entire campus is a mixture of people from all over India. Mostly from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, North East, Telangana after West Bengal.

Best of Luck.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

Hello satyam,

It depends on your interest either you are passionate about coding or you are passionate about semiconductor physics. College wise definitely nsit delhi has an upper hand in almost every thing as first of all it is situated in new delhi where you can simultaneously prepare for many government exams like upsc ssc etc.

Hello satyam,

Iiest shibpur is one of top colleges of west bengal with nirf ranking 19 in engineering colleges all over india.

The placements are OK. The highest package offered to the students of the CSE stream is 12 LPA which is a good package to start with. The placements are improving every year as it belongs to an INI the standards of IITs and NITs.

Day by day everything is improving both faculty and course circulum is being updated.

College Infrastructure

Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology situated in Shibpur Having good infrastructure.Certainly lacks the facility & infrastructure of a top notch institute (refers to my dept.-archi), and heard a lot of complaints from my B.Tech friends about the placement department, which I presume is true to a large extent, although the new INI tag will be able to solve the problem, hopefully. But, students here get one hell of an experience of the hostel life, senior-junior relationship is something we learn to treasure and cherish.

Good college

College Infrastructure

Our college having great infrastructure with all the facilities are available. Library is very well maintained with all books and papers you need with space to study there as well. Hostels on the other hand really need serious maintainance. The food quality is very bad to average. Drinking water is not very good as well. There are no well made tables or chairs in hostels, you have to buy them on your own. For sports there are 2 big grounds where you can play cricket and football. There is separate court for basketball and one for badminton. Except these there isn't anything else in sports department.

It was pretty good experience.

College Infrastructure

Great Infrastructure but placements should be improved as there was no placement in 2020 for Applied Geology. I am pretty sure the engineering departments are very much good at infrastructure but the university authorities must pay attention t the science departments as well.
