The final SC category rank, i.e. the cutoff, for IEST, Shibpur was 5506 in 2018. The branch was Mining Engineering. This was the home state rank for the gender neutral seats.

Hi there with this percentile your probability to get nit durgapur is less. As per previous year cutoff for cs for sc Category it was (open ranking-954 and closing ranking-1367) . And for iiest shibpur for home state cutoff for cs branch was 903 as closing ranking.

Which one should I prefer for mtech VLSI IIT dhanbad or iiest shibpur?

You should definitely go for IIT Dhanbad if you want to pursue MTech rather than IIEST Shibpur. Though Shibpur's is good but you'll have more opportunities in IIT Dhanbad as more companies visit the campus as comp to Shibpur. And it's for all the branches.

You may get metallurgy, mining . You even have slight changes of getting civil ,assuming that you belong to general category. Also it depends on whether you are from home state or not. Check the closing ranks of last year.

College Infrastructure

I find the campus historical and beautiful, but the buildings are visibly very old and need modernization. My Electronics and Telecommunication labs have basic equipment, but I look forward to better instruments in later years. The library resources are vast and excellent for my studies. I know the infrastructure is average, but the heritage value is high.
