Well I am from IT dept. In IIEST,Shibpur so there would be a tinge of biasness but you won't be directed wrong so don't worry.
I had the same doubt whether I.T will be a good choice? But as time passed,I came to the following conclusion :-

Yeah Soumi Sarkar, with 7378 rank in WBJEE, you had a decent chance to get admission in Jadavpur University. As it also depends on the category to which you belongs. But with 7378 rank, you had a decent chance to get admission in Jadavpur University. Best of luck.

With this rank in JEE main you cannot get a seat in any government colleges for engineering like NITs IIITs and GFTIs and IIEST. Your rank is way too high.

So please go for private engineering colleges in India like Sharda Manipal SRM etc.

I scored 85 percentile in jee mains. Can I get into iiest with any branch apart from mining and I am OK with 7 round of counselling as well.

If you belong to open category then I am sorry to say that you cannot get into iiest as atleast you need to have a rank of 30k and around to get in with the least preferred branch . But seeing your percentile it seems that your rank would be

Hi Sandip,

You will definitely get NITs, IIITs but may get IIEST as their cut off are low. In JOSAA we many times don't get branches we choose but in CSAB there are still chances because many seats are vacant in this round. Just carefully set your priorities in college

No your rank is a bit too much to get admitted to this college. However you can try for other colleges, you will definitely get a good college with the rank of 29000.

College Infrastructure

I find the campus historical and beautiful, but the buildings are visibly very old and need modernization. My Electronics and Telecommunication labs have basic equipment, but I look forward to better instruments in later years. The library resources are vast and excellent for my studies. I know the infrastructure is average, but the heritage value is high.
