Hello Aspirant,

IITs and IISC Bangalore takes admission through JEE Advanced. A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced only when he/she has qualified JEE Main.

What you need to know is that IITs offers B.Tech course however IISC Bangalore does not offers B.Tech instead it offers B.Sc. It does offers M.Tech though. The placements in these institutions are great and one will not regret going there. A B.Tech degree is of 4 years.

Hi,

There are three channels through which one can get admission to Bs-MS and B.S programs in IISC.

  1. Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana ( KVPY ) channel
  2. Joint Entrance Examination ( JEE-Advanced ) of the Indian Institutes of Technology
  3. State and Central Boards Channel ( SCB )

Through any of the above channel you can get a seat in IISC.

The minimum percentage of marks required in jee mains and jee advance to apply for undergraduate programs at IISER are -

IIT-JEE (Main): 60% (GN), 54% (OBC-NCL), 30% (SC/ST/PH)

IIT-JEE (Advanced): 60% (GN), 54% (OBC-NCL), 30% (SC/ST/PH)

Hope it helps.

No, in IISc Bangalore and IISERs, it is not compulsory for students of any year to reside in campus hostels. It solely depends on the candidate's choice to opt for campus hostels or not.

Hello aspirant,

You might face some difficulty in getting admission with 240 marks if you belong to General Category as the cut off variate every year. I'll recommend you to visit the following link to get complete details of previous year cut off at IISC :

https://www.iisc.ac.in/admissions/cut-off-report-and-gate-score-of-previous-years/

Good Luck

IISc decides a different cut off score each year depending on the difficulty of the paper, above which you are granted admission. This minimum score can range anywhere between 70-80% of the total (i.e 250-290), which makes it highly competitive. Such a score, depending upon the relative performance of students and difficulty of exam, roughly translates to a rank under 1500. Sometimes, a lower cutoff is also set, and students between this lower cut off and the former cut off have to appear for an interview. Hope this helps!

Hello,
.
No, IISc (Indian institute of science) Bangalore is not offering any kind of BTECH undergraduate courses. The college has master level Courses offering ME/MTECH. Here I'm providing a link which has Information about the college's offering BTECH in Bangalore, refer it for details

Dear,

Both the colleges are premier institutes .Both gives best placement opportunities. If you are doing your mtech just to get a job iitb is the best option . If you focus on becoming a researcher then iisc is the best place. In terms of brand value iisc is higher than any of the iit’s. Though all iit’s have nearly same college culture where you study and have have fun. But in iisc the atmosphere is totally different.

So ultimately it's your decision. Decide your own path. Do not be bogged down by societal and parental pressure.

Hope this helps!

Dear,

Seats are higher for sa and sx than sb. If you are from general category it is up to 250 rank in both sa and sx . And for sb you have to be in top 3. Are you st then just qualify in case of sa and sx. Now for obc also you are going to have great advantage in case of sa and sx, but in case of sb you have to be in top 8 .Now it all boils to the fact that if you are a sa and sx scholar then don't worry too much but if you are a SB scholar you have to struggle a little.

Hope this helps!

College Infrastructure

Our college provides excellent Wi-Fi. The labs have good computers. Classrooms are clean and have good lighting effects. The library has many books. The good part is that they allow us to borrow for many days, and the penalty is less for late submissions. Every odd semester, we have a fest. The hostel is not very good, and the food is not good.
