If you want to pursue a career in Robotics and take up technical degree courses like B.Tech. in Robotics Engineering or B.E./B. Tech in Automation and Robotics, you may need to devote upto 11-12 years for your higher studies after completing your (10+2) level.
It will include : UG (4 years) + PG (2 years) + Ph.D. (4-5 years depending on the institute).

If you take up UG courses like B.Sc. (Hons.) Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (of 3 yrs. duration), you may need around 10 years in order to complete your doctoral program.

So, it mostly depends on the initial course that you take up.

The admission in M.tech in IIT, Bombay is based on merit in GATE.Candidate must qualify in GATE.You need to opt Aerospace Engineering paper in GATE.Candidates with GATE score 800 or above have decent chances of getting seat in IIT, Bombay.The eligiblity criteria for GATE is that a candidate must have passed bachelors degree in engineering or technology or master's degree in any relevant discipline.

The cut off for IIT, Bombay in Mechanical Engineering for ST Category was 400.So, you may have chances to get seat in this IIT.You may also get seat in IIT, Delhi, IIT, Kanpur, IIT, Guwahati, IIT, Roorkee considering previous years cut off trends.However, cut off is subjected to change it may increase or decrease slightly.

Yes, candidates who have passed in diploma can get admission in IIT, Bombay.The admission in B.tech is based on merit in JEE Advanced.Candidates need to appear in JEE main qualify in it and then appear in JEE Advanced and qualify in it.There aren't any provisions for admission in IITs through lateral entry.

The seat Matrix of Computer science in IIT Bombay is 108 which is gender neutral seats which can be taken by both boys and girls and 23 seats reserved for girl students to increase the boy to girl ratio in IITs.

Though all the seats are generally not filled but this is the seat matrix of IIT Bombay.

IIT Bombay is most famous and demanding College among aspirants.They provides excellent placements record and all the students enrolled in various courses can secure employment in top companies with impressive salary packages.Some of top companies are offering highest packages like Microsoft ,Google,Amazon ,Infosys and much more but as a CSE students these companies are provides exciting salary offer for aspirants .

As per survey Microsoft offer highest packages 1.1 crore per annual and average salary offered is 14 to 15 lakhs .

Students are eligible for free messing in hostel and gets pocket allowance of INR 250 per month if their parent income is less than INR 4.5 lakhs.

see msc phd courses is an integrated  doctoral programs, candidates who have bachelors in mathematics or statistics or in engineering or sciences may opt for this program, however if you have real interest in operational research and interdisciplinary research in engineering may opt this program, this course is 2 years msc and 3 years phd courses, placements is given after msc, in third year, you may left the course after placement with out doing phd after getting placement offers, however if you really work hard you can surely get good placement after phd course.

The campus at IIT Bombay is huge and got modern labs and classrooms. Libraries are full of books and online stuff, high speed internet everywhere. Labs have good equipments for research in computer science. Its nice but sometimes crowded. Hostel rooms are okay, not fancy but clean. Overall, infrastructure help a lot in PhD work.
