Dear Aspirant,
It is a common saying that chose branch over the college, but in your case, college factor is playing a major role too. Therefore, I suggest you must first decide if you are interested in IT or civil and to clear one misconception COMPUTER SCIENCE & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY are not the same branches and those lucrative offers you hear about are for Computer Sci and not for IT.
However, if you are still interested in things like software developments then IT is the branch for you. But given that other college is IIT KANPUR one of the top IITs then I suggest you must go with it provided that you do not have any prior interests. The atmosphere you are going to get at IIT-K is something you will not find anywhere in the country.
Hence, if you do not have any inclination towards any branch, in general, go for IIT KANPUR.
Hope this helps. All the best.
Thank You.
Hello,
Ritik IIT Kanpur is always the best and above any college to choose, but coming to your subjects in iit kanpur b.s. chemistry ,job will be decent but not that high as a CSE branch in punjab engineering college.PEC is good college for CSE with a decent placement,so you may go for pec cse but you have a dream for iit and passionate about the subject than surely go for iit .All the best
Hello,
It mostly depends on your interest levels.
Both th colleges have very good reputation when it comes to faculty, infrastructure, placements, etc.
But Iit Kanpur is better than iit bhu and bioengineering is relevant course from there.
You should choose according to your interest.
All the Best
Dear Aspirant,
The choice is not simple in your case as the branches are quite different and have their own reputation other than college. It is a famous saying that "prefer branch over college", and if this is so, then choose the branch of your interest. If you are interested in coding, computers, softwares, etc., then go for IIT GN(CSE). However, if you are more inclined towards machines and mathematics, etc then go for Mechanical.
CSE as a branch, undoubtedly have an upper hand over mechanical, or for that matter better than any branch. So if you do not have any preference, then go for CSE. It has better career opportunities than most of the other branches.
In summary, it is all about your interest and not about college, if you are comparing colleges like these. However, IIT Kanpur is definitely a good college than IIT Gandhinagar, but if you are not interested in mechanical or not interested in any of the branch then go for IIT GN.
Hope this helps.
Thank You and all the best.
hello amanj Jaiswal
Hello Amanj,
If you have not applied or registered for a normal round of IIT in case of MTech, you are eligible for registration for the spot round. The difference in case of not having registered for the normal round instead of doing so, you are required to give the GATE entrance examination and have a valid GATE score with you. This will allow you to take admission by means of the spot round in MTech in the IIT that you would prefer.
I hope this helps.
All the best!!
See as you want to go to IIT Kanpur. But you haven't specified which course you want to join , what's your category . You have said nothing.
First complete your question.
I guess after seeing your profile you want to pursue Mtech. I will suggest you for gate exam , it is best. Or else for msc you can give IIT jam .
Thank you.
Hi Nikhil,
The closing rank of BS Economics last year in IIT Bombay was 2088.
The closing rank of BS Economics last year in IIT Kanpur was 2718.
The closing rank of MSc Economics last year in IIT Kharagpur was 4499.
Keeping these stats in mind, I guess you'll get Integrated MSc in IIT Kharagpur.
I would suggest you to use college predictor so as to have a better view of all the options available to you. Below is the link of college predictor,

One of the best infrastructure, with world class labs. There are various new buildings developing up like new hostels, new activity areas, medical schools and a lot more. From academics to recreational activities and sports it has everything.
My college infrastructure was really good. It had all the facilities and equipment. All classrooms were equipped with a projector for a PowerPoint presentation along with the whiteboard. The library had lots of books too.
Honestly i would clarify or tell that thus certification is completed by me under Indian institute of technology , Kanpur in remote or online mode . but as the name and fame of clg is , there might be high quality infra
