Your rank is fine , you can get lower bodies of Nit or IIITs of the apex in the last round of counselling or there's another special round called the Spot counselling as well where you would definitely get a branch of your choice along with Calicut or kurukshetra choice

See you are giving a tough choice to select, NIT Calicut and NIT Allahabad . Both colleges are really good. NIT Calicut is having a good reputation but you can't ignore nit Allahabad .

I am sorry but you won't be able to get admission in NIT Calicut. It had a cut off of 641 rank last year. However you might want to try for  NIT Kurukshetra which had a cut off of 1596 rank. You might also want to try for NIT

i would recemmond you to go for svnit because it is near your house and the ranking is also better than nit, calicut.
