Firstly, which college you want to join NIT Calicut or NIT Rourkela. NIT Rourkela stands a little better than NIT Calicut based on the NIRF rankings by MHRD of India, and based on multiple factors including academics, research, campus, placements, etc. Now

Your rank is fine , you can get lower bodies of Nit or IIITs of the apex in the last round of counselling or there's another special round called the Spot counselling as well where you would definitely get a branch of your choice along with Calicut or kurukshetra choice

See you are giving a tough choice to select, NIT Calicut and NIT Allahabad . Both colleges are really good. NIT Calicut is having a good reputation but you can't ignore nit Allahabad .
