A good college with lots of activities

    College Infrastructure

Yes , in terms of infrastructure , the college is well equiped . Moreover , it has one of the largest libraries . The WiFi facility is offered in the classes as well as the hostels and at good speeds . Also , smart boards are present in classes so that the concept can be explained in a better way with the help of this technology

    Academics

I'm studying Electronics and Computer Engineering because I was fascinated by both software and hardware . The curriculum is average to be honest and needs an update . Although , various updates have been made every year in order to make the curriculum suitable for the industry however , it still needs improvement. Thus , the curriculum needs certain improvement to make us job-ready

    Placements

The placements are quite good in the college . There is a special placement cell which works with the industry and does ensure that we are trained and given all proper resources so that we are well prepared for our job interviews . The average salary varies from 6-8 Lac per annum .

    Value for Money

My course costs around 3 Lacs per year . I do think that my course does require certain improvements regarding what needs to be thought and inclusion of more computer science subjects but overall I do think that I am getting the value for my money

    Campus Life

The college campus is just amazing . With lots of societies and social activities organised regularly , you do feel that the college atmosphere is trying to improve your personality day by day . The campus offers great sporting facilities and is also close to the NSA Patiala , thus making it a desirable place for the sports quota students . Moreover , there are various socities that organise various events like coding events , food festivals , MUN's .Thus , it is a great atmosphere

    Others

Everything is amazing .Overall , I'm happy to be a part of this college . The only problem I feel is the timing of the classes as they almost take our whole day away and we are left with nothing much to do on our own . The classes are usually from 8am to 5 pm thus making it a long and hectic day .Also , the abundance of students (with the college having approximately a total of 10k students ) might be a problem for some . The timing for girls is also an issue that has been debated a lot.

    Amazing

    College Infrastructure

Yes, The college does have all the necessary infrastructure, facilities, etc. The infra of the college is in great shape and is renovated quite frequently to keep it in good shape and the students avail all the facilities as per their convenience, the food in hostels are okay but the cos area and g block dhabhas have amazing food.

    Academics

i am pursuing electronics and computer engineering and the quality of teaching is good. The curriculum is upto date which include many project courses too to enhance our CV and also this college focuses on all round development as it has many societies to take part in.

    Placements

The quality of placements have always been good at thapar. Around 700 companies come each year to give the thapar students job opportunities in technical areas around 95-96% students are placed. The highest package which i know of was of 40 lakh and was offered to a cs graduate. The process of placement is great.

    Value for Money

the cost of my course with hostel included is around 2.1 L per sem. and yes its quite expensive but also will be beneficial to me in near future.

    Campus Life

There are many fests and events that happen during the semester in thapar , so that makes the college life very busy and fun also this college offers us a chance to witness a food festival which is quite unique . The location of the college is in the prime section of patiala.

    College Infrastructure

Infrastructure is best in class at thapar University with well equiped labs, second largest library in india. Well equiped cse labs for different usage. Overall infrastructure is comparable to any iit in whole india. New lecture halls are class apart from india colleges, these are made by architects from Dublin.

    Academics

Academics are upto the mark, in first year you might not be provided with professors but from 2nd year all teachers are phd, now new teachers being recruited are all phd. They also provide student with teacher mentor to work on projects with and for guidance.each

    Placements

Placements are fairly well, even if compared to iits aur nits, ouo came and recruited 68 students at 10.5lac ctc from a batch of 420 coe students. Dont know whether they'll remain good or not as the batch population has reached 2365 from 1000 in just 4 years only

    Value for Money

According to me studying here is value for money as are being provided with best in class infrastructure and fairly good academics. Moreover they provide scholarships to meritorious students.

    Campus Life

Campus life is best here. It is best in every college until and unless you dont enjoy every moment of it. There is techno-cultural fest saturnalia. Also there are is an economic fest-stratagem, sports fest-urja. Tgere qre 50+ societies which keep on organising various inter and intra college technical and non technical events. There are best to interact with seniors and learn about different fields.

    Others

It is a good college to be associated with. It has strong alumni background with various events and things going on with studies. There is a society FROSH which welcomes you to tge college and make you known of all the college for first two months. They organise events for 3 weeks which helps you to make new friends in college and let away the weight of jee from your shoulders.

    College Infrastructure

Yes it does has all the facilities as well as it has all the neccessary infrastructure for the students . Wifi and other important facilities are here . Living spaces are clean and hygiene is taken care of.

    Academics

I am studying computer Science and engineering here. Quality is teaching is ok ok , highly qualified teachers and lab faculty , curriculam is is updated and up to date and the college works to make student job ready

    Placements

Quality of placement of my branch has been good , most of the students have been placed and large no of companies are coming and big companies also , most of the students get place with a good package

    Value for Money

Course cost is high and overall the amount of money spend can be recovered easily if you work hard and you'll get a good placement , money spent is worth it because of the facilities provided in college

    Campus Life

Campus life is good , boys have a way more freedom then girls , the last time to entrt girls hostel is 9:30 , apart from that the facilities available are good and it is safe in the college and can handle emergencies

Depends how much you extract from the resources.

    College Infrastructure

Library and new academic building are excellently built and meet international standards. Hostels are okay and usually get better with each year, but they are anyway far better than government colleges'. Food and hygiene are okay and usually depend from hostel to hostel.

    Academics

Depends on professors and the grasping power of students. Some professors are really good. Some make you attend classes only for attendance. The overall environment creates a good learning experience if you're ready to put in a little more efforts.

    Placements

Decent placements. Average placements usually reach 7-8 lacs. Again it depends on how much skill you have gained as an individual. Some placements (usually in COE,ECE,ENC branches, but not necessarily) go as high as 25+ lacs.

    Good

    College Infrastructure

It's quite large and hostels are good too..food a bit bad..but compared o other colleges guess it's good.Class rooms are very good . Thapar also have it's very own market.itsalso have various playgrounds.

    Academics

Academics quite good too..some teachers re very good and hey take pain to do anything or you. Many faculty member have studied from IIT and are quite good. Teachers also use projectors for the class and it's quite good.

    Placements

Placements are good too .Many good companies come. But as the footfall is quite large the competition is high and various coding Tests are also conducted.Internships for third year is quite tough and one should e very good to achieve that.

A strong legacy and beautiful vibe of its own

    College Infrastructure

Best thing about TIET is it's infrastructure, be it the laboratories or the hostels the facilities provided to the students are the best. For the first year students the hostels are a bit harsh in condition but have their own vibe of being a hostel place having 62 years of legacy. The hostels get a lot better with the further years.

    Academics

In general the curriculum has all the required elements in it, it's much better than general colleges as it is having a touch of the Trinity college, dublin. The professor's range from very good to extremely worse but once you're in college you realise it with time that teachers don't matter after a point of time and only self study works be it IIT or TIET

    Placements

I guess the placements at Thapar is it's strongest suite. Around 80% of the batch for the year 2020 was placed, opportunities at this college for placemets are tremendous, it's upto the students to seize them. I have seen people with an aggregate CG of 6.3 get packages in the range 8-10LPA while I have seen people with 8.5-9.0 managing with a package of 4.5-6.0LPA. Avg package for Computer engineering is around 7.5-8.5 LPA for ENC is 7-7.8LPA and overall is around 6.2-6.8 LPA.

    Value for Money

My fees from the year 2017 to 2021 in total has been around 16-17.5L, according to me which is a bit high, but for a private college this was fine. But as the years go forward this price point has kept on increasing at a rapid rate, currently for this year admits it would be around 20-20.5L.

    Campus Life

The college has around 50+ societies, clubs and communities. Other than that the college is pretty much the most lively place post the college hours, the entire campus is covered with green areas of trees and shrubs and there are very less restrictions for the students to move around in the campus the campus in time for students has recently been increased. The college sees many tests and events throughout the year.

    Others

Thapar is an institute with a legacy of its own not only is the academic curriculum good but also the extracurricular activities at college are also very good. This place has a vibe of its own which shows forth in all the graduates from this place but recently this place has started increasing it's intake and fees both at a huge rate, if the college reaches a stable point with this only then can it once again thrive, else we would see a downfall of a great place.

    College Infrastructure

College is beautiful, infrasturcture is eye stocking, classes are equipped with latest technology, labs are equipped with all the necessary apparatus.campus is green, there is wifi connectivity inside the whole campus, campus is clean.

    Academics

Quality of teaching is good, they will clear all the doubts if you ask them, faculties are experienced and have adequate knowledge of the subject.they make you competition ready, teachers are also very friendly.

    Placements

Thapar is famous for its placements, thus it is famous among the aspirants of jee mains, most of the students get placed every year, more than 600 companies visit our college.if you are little more than average you will surely get placed in a good company.

    Value for Money

The fees is bit high, the academic fee is roughly 2 which is slightly more than it worths and the fees keeps on increasing every year which is slightly more as compared to other colleges.but it gets worth because placements are good enough.

    Campus Life

This is awesome, there are very less restrictions in the student, campus is safe, green and beautiful there are so many societies which encourages extra curriculum, many events happen on the grand scale in this college, people are friendly.

    College Infrastructure

I have been studying at this college for more than a semester and my experience has been great so far, despite of the college being around 60 years old, they always focus on latest equipment and infrastructure. all the facilities required in an engineering college are fulfilled

    Academics

I am currently pursuing electronics and communication engineering here, i have always been interested in the circuit analysis of an object. the curriculum is upto date and the teaching is in accordance with the new discoveries and findings amongst the world

    Placements

i havent been able to participate in placements myself as i am in first year but the placements are good enough with an average of about 10lpa which is good enough for a private college with a placement rate of 94%

Hello. Which is best for btech cse in terms of placements- Thapar university Or chitkara university. (My 12th %age is 95.25 & jee not cld)

If you are confused between Thapar University and Chitkara University for B.Tech CSE based on placement opportunities , here’s a detailed comparison:

    • Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), Patiala:

      • One of India's most prestigious private engineering institutes.

      • Strong placement record with top tech companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Deloitte, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, and IBM recruiting students.

      • Average placement package for CSE students ranges between 7–9 LPA (2023 data).

      • Highest packages often cross 40 LPA (domestic) and even higher in some international offers.

      • Large alumni network and consistent internship opportunities in top firms.

      • Strong research focus, updated curriculum with AI/ML, and global exposure through tie-ups with international universities.

    • Chitkara University, Punjab:

      • Growing reputation, especially in north India for skill-based learning.

      • Regular recruiters include Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra , and other service-based companies.

      • Average placement package for CSE students is around 4–5 LPA .

      • Highest package recorded is around 30 LPA , but such offers are limited.

      • Good industry-oriented programs and training, but core tech company placements are comparatively fewer than Thapar.

    • Key Differences:

      • Thapar University has an overall stronger brand, better average packages, more core tech placements, and a broader range of opportunities.

      • Chitkara University is a good choice if you are looking for skill-based training with a moderate budget, but in terms of pure placements and salary outcomes, Thapar is ahead.

    Conclusion:
If placement is your top priority, and you are academically strong (95.25% in 12th — excellent!), Thapar University is definitely the better option over Chitkara University.
It offers higher average packages, more international exposure, better core company placements, and a stronger brand value for future career growth.

    Hello,

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (Thapar University) offers B.E./B.Tech admissions through two modes:

    • JEE Main Scores: 50% of seats are allocated based on JEE Main performance.
    • Class 12 Merit: The remaining 50% are filled based on Class 12 marks in Physics, Mathematics, and one subject from Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational.

For B.Tech in Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering, admissions consider NEET scores or Class 12 marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Thapar University does not conduct a separate entrance exam for these programs.

    Hope it helps !
