The admission procedure in all Government Engineering Colleges is not similar.

However, these are some of the qualifying points needed for admission in Government Engineering Colleges-

  • Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Science stream or its equivalent from any recognized board with minimum 50-45% marks.
  • They must have Physics , Maths , Chemistry and an extra subject of the their choice in the last qualifying examination.
  • In order to get admission in the course, they must clear national entrance exams or the entrance exams conducted by the university or college.

With 79 percentile, it is certain that you will not be admitted into any NIT or IIITs. You can still attempt HBTI Kanpur based on your percentile and score. Or better go with some other private institutions like Kalinga Institute of Industrial technology or CV Raman Global University.

With 64 percentile your general rank will be around 3,68000 to 4,00000. and your SC rank will be around 16,000 to 20,000. Marks vs ranks varies every year depending upon many factors such as difficulty level of questions, no of students appear for the exam, no of students want to get the the same branch.

It will be difficult for you to get Govt Engineering Colleges in West Bengal with this rank.
