St Joseph Engineering College, Mangalore has a  placement cell that plays an important role in the campus recruitment process. SJEC Mangalore placement cell acts as a liaison between the institution and industry in order to meet the needs of the students in getting the right careers path. SJEC Mangalore placement cell  arranges faculty development programmes, quantitative aptitude training, programming skill training, mock group discussion and mock interview by HR professionals and alumni. Various recruiters are invited to the campus for the placement of the students.

Students are given the necessary practical knowledge and skills to be chosen by companies through the SJEC Mangalore placement drive. SJEC Mangalore placement cell organises training initiatives such as i-Point Soft Skill Training, Aptitude Training, Technical Training, CoCubes Assessment, CLHRD and IGNITIA. Various recruiters like Cadence, BOSCH, Indo US MIM, PRDC, Amazon, Microsoft etc to name a few have visited the campus for the SJEC Mangalore placement drive. • The company sends their HR team to conduct a survey and determine the common pool centre for campus recruitment at the beginning.
• The company then requests resumes from eligible students in their final or pre-final year of various branches, depending on their needs.
• The company decides on a suitable date to conduct the campus selection.
• Further, pre-placement, written tests,  group discussion and interviews are held.
• Following the completion of the selection process, the companies announce the list of selected students and the date on which offer letters will be sent.
• Offer letters to students are received in accordance with the companies' commitments and distributed to students for acceptance and return notification to the companies.
