Yes You can get admission there but getting CS might be an issue. But You also belong to SC Category and that will be very helpful for You.

Both are good in terms of placement and academics. In context of further discrimination, IIEST is a centrally funded institute and it is going to be named NIT next year. Research opportunities are huge in IIEST. You will face an all Indian competition there. On the other hand, Jadavpur University is famous for quality education and huge placements offered each year.

PLACEMENT :

Jadavpur University / Mechanical Engineering:

As per 2020 placement statistics, 71 students out of 82 eligible got placed in reputed companies. The average CTC was 5.7 LPA and the highest CTC touches 16.8 LPA . As a total 89 companies offered placement to mechanical engineering department of Jadavpur University.

IIEST Shibpur / Electronics and Communication Engineering:

As per 2019 placement statistics, 26 out of 42 eligible candidates got placed in various companies. The average CTC offered was 5.5 LPA . As a total 43 offers was delivered to the students of ECE department of IIEST Shibpur.

Dear Aspirant, 89 percentile would give you the category rank of 5200-6200. So at this rank, if you belong to home state then you will get admission easily according to previous years trends and cutoffs. I would like to inform you that Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology , Shibpur is one of the top institutes of India. Now coming to the fees structure, IIESTS provides 100% tution fee waiver for sc/st students. So the total tution fee of 62500 will be waived for sc/st students per semester which is really a very good thing about the college. The college will charge a fee of 7500 Rs. as academic fee and approx 21,000 as hostel accommodation and mess fee for sc/st candidates for each semester.

see the institute you have mentioned as jadavpur university, iiest shipur, nit durgapur both are excellent institute as far their placement, curriculum, infrastructure, college life every thing. however I have arrange the orders of the college keeping in mind of the latest demanding engineering, streams and students review.

Hi Candidate! Jadavpur University is better than IIEST Shibpur. Jadavpur University has good facilities of faculties, infrastructure, culture, academics as compare to IIEST . And of we talk about placements I don't think IIEST Shibpur has better status than JU. IIEST is good college but still they don't have good placements.

I would recommend you to choose Jadavpur University rather than IIEST.
