Hello there,
In IIEST Shibpur, four students share one room. This is only for the first and second years. After that you can get single accomodation. According to the reviews of some students, there is sufficient space for 4 students in each room. The food of the hostel is not so good, but overall experience is nice, as per their reviews.

I don't personally know about these colleges but based on NIRF ranking and student reviews you can find that Jadavpur University is better than IIEST Shibpur . It doesn't mean IIEST Shibpur is not good , IIEST Shibpur is also an excellent college .

Here I am mentioning some points :-

1. Jadavpur University NIRF ranking is 14 whereas IIEST Shibpur NIRF ranking is 19 .
2. You can see in careers360 students reviews Jadavpur rating is more than IIEST .
3. In terms of campus IIEST Shibpur has slight bigger campus area than Jadavpur University.

I would recommend IIEST anytime. Formerly Bengal Engineering and Sciene University(BESU) IIEST Shibpur, is one of the oldest engineering institutes which has now been upgraded to the status of institute of national importance in the year 2015.Being old, the institute has done well in procurement of a mighty alumni base which proves quite instrumental in placements and all.Its the mother institute of highly reputed IIT Kharagpur. That even adds to its value.Its a central govt. Technical institute now and hence has a greater degree of transparency in fund regulation and policy framing.

Talking about HBTU , it is one of the oldest engineering colleges in the entire North India and 19th enginnering college in the entire country. From the year 2017–18, i.e. from this year onwards, it would also be admitting students on the basis of JEE MAIN ranks only. The mother institue of 41 technical institutes in the state including IIT Kanpur. That adds to the value of the institution as well.Being old, the college has done enough to procure a mighty lace of alumni that has established the prestige of the institution in the industry apart from that among the common masses. Its a thing that always proves instrumental in placement drives of the college. But, the college administration is not that supportive. You will have an approximate idea of entire Indian bureaucracy by the completion of your four years if you opt for this college. Also, its hard to get good marks at the college.

For IIEST, ranks for admission into different branches ranged from nearly 5000-40000. With the new percentile system, this would translate to a percentile range of 95-99. This is solely based on the past year pattern, and might change slightly because of factors like change in number of seats or the number of people appearing for the exam.

• Candidates should appear and qualify for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main).
• Based on the marks scored in JEE Main, candidates have to register for IIEST Shibpur's official website to participate in the counselling process.

The eligibility criteria is same as of JEE mains. You will have to appear in JEE mains, get a rank less than 20k (top branches) and select IIEST at the time of choice filling.

The candidate should be a citizen of India. Admission of foreign students can be done on the recommendation of MHRD, India.

The candidate should have secured a minimum of 75% aggregate marks (for General category) and 65% marks (for OBC/SC/ST/PwD category) in the Higher Secondary exams of their respective Boards.
