MTech, or Masters of Technology is a two year professional post graduate programme in a specific branch of engineering. It is a skill- oriented programme that focuses more on the practical aspect of engineering. The eligibility is as follows:

Indian Institute of Science (IISc) offers three postgraduate programmes courses that are : Mtech / Mdes, M Mgt and Mtech (for sponsored candidates).

There are various mode to get into IISc for which a candidate needs to qualify respective entrance examinations and meet certain eligibility criteria that needs to be checked at the official website for different courses at IISc.

There is no such particular Msc course is available at IISc. The candidate who is already pursuing Bachelor of Science (Research) at IISc can do Masters in Science at IISc for various courses such as -Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science etc.

The institute also offers integrated PHD for courses like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology for which a candidate must qualify exams like JAM and JEST.

Last year there were talks of stopping the tipends provided to MTech students in IITs and IISc however till date the stipends are being given to students who clear CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/AICTE/DAE (NBHM)/ DST  (except for M Mgmnt prog). Besides these there are various scholarships available like fellowships from GE/ INFOSYS/ IBM/ HP/ TATA/ PHILIPS/ BELL LAB/ MICROSOFT.
