Hello.
If we look at previous year's cutoff for Computer Science Engineering at IIT Bombay, the closing rank for General category in the last round was 66. For females (including supernumerary), the closing cutoff was 248. The cutoffs vary each year and depend on the number of students appearing for JEE (Advanced), those who qualify JEE (Advanced) etc. IIT Kharagpur will release the cutoffs for this year after the completion of JEE (Advanced) 2021. Hence, you need to at least secure a rank in the top 100 (General) to get admission into IIT Bombay.

Hello,
Here we are talking about IIT right, it's the premiere Institute in india. And best engineering colleges with good Placements and all. So for getting Admissions in this type of Institution try to study well and get above average marks.
The tentative qualifying marks for GEN category (common rank list) students is 89.75 for GEN (EWS category) is 78.21, for OBC-NCL is 74.31, for SC is 54, 44 for ST & 0.11371730 for PWD candidates.

Hello,
I believe you should prefer Engineering Physics at IIT Bombay . Engineering Physics is basically a Engineering Research branch and deals with Physics in Engineering and Application. As far as IIT Bombay is concerned, you shouldnt have any issue regarding Location, Faculty, Infrastructure and Research Facilities. As far as Placements are concerned opportunities in Core Physics sector seem bleak with many students joining Samsung Semiconductor, TSMC, LAM Research and some other companies like Applied Materials and Intel. But many students opt for pursuing Masters or Doctoral Degree post Undergraduate from Faculties of Physics in top US Universities like Princeton, UC Berkeley and Stanford. Besides this IIT Bombay has excellent placements as far as non core sector is concerned and you can always find high paying opportunities in Software/IT/Finance/Consultancy, etc. Perhaps I believe at this Rank you might find other Core or Circuital in many other Top IITs and can also consider them.
Below I have given the placement details for both the colleges:

Hello,
You have not mentioned your category. Here is the cut off in 2020 JoSAA round 6 for admission in to Mechanical Engineering in IIT, Bombay
Considering the previous year cut off you need to score minimum 60-65% of total score to have decent chances of getting seat in the preferred IIT and branch if you belong to general category, if you belong to SC/ST you need to score minimum 50-55% of total score, if you belong to EWS/OBC-NCL category you need to score minimum 55%-58% of total score. This is because the total marks for JEE Advanced changes every year, if you belong to PWD category you need to score 40% of the total score or above. This is an estimated score. Cut off also changes every year depending on various factors like number of candidates appeared difficulty level of exam and number of seats available etc.
Hello Sir,
As we go through the latest cut-offs of 2020 then it shows that the closing rank for OBC category was 2185 for Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science branch in IIT Bombay.
See it is quite difficult to tell you about exact marks to score because for JEE-Advance no maximum marks are fixed but yes with regards to JEE-Advance 2021 if he secures his AIR under OBC category in JEE-Advance under top 2000-2100 then there are good chances for him to get into some lower branches in IIT Bombay but if he wants top branches like CSE, ECE, or any other then he should maintain his rank under 200 for IIT Bombay.
You can check out the latest cut-offs from the link given below :-
https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx
Note that the above prediction is made on the basis of latest cut-offs available on official website of JOSAA and the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors such as the number of candidates appearing in an examination, the number of candidates qualifying an examination, difficulty level of the paper, and so on.

Hello,
This depends on what your interest is that is whether you would like to work or pursue your education.
If you decide to do M.Tech then IIT Delhi is the best for CSE department, followed by IIT Kanpur and then IIT Bomaby.
Now if you want to try for a government job, which os a very good option since you get paid really well and have job security, but to get into a PSU you need to get really good ranks.
I will share with you a link where you will get a clear picture of the previous year's GATE cutoff trends for PSUs.
https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/what-are-gate-scores-for-psu-recruitment
So it would be my opinion that if you score really well then you should try for PSUs since then you will be having a secured future. But of your passion is to learn then you should join M.Tech in one of the above given IITs
Good Luck
My college has all the necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipments from both academics and sports activities. It has Hostels for all the students from btech, mtech to phds so we don't have to look for the Pg outside the college.
It is not hidden from anyone about IIT Bombay and its extraordinary infrastructure, the hostels, the departments, the convocation hall, the auditoriums, the playgrounds, the student activity centre, and what not, everything is just fab. Our campus has 24*7 WiFi. The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) was ranked 118th in the 2025 QS World University Rankings.
Hostels here great to live in. The hostel experience is really memorable for any student. All hostels have 24*7 Wi-Fi access and connectivity. Hostel mess food is also far then that of the other college. Also, the hostels are quite safe and secure from the perspective of a girl students.
