Hello candidate,

For getting into IIT Bombay to pursue undergraduate degree in electrical engineering you have to first clear the JEE advanced and JEE Mains examination in your category and then have to apply for josaa counselling.

Since different categories have different closing ranks, so what is the general category closing rank for electrical engineering was around 300. For OBC, the closing rank was 175, for SC it was about 100, and the Schedule Tribes the closing rank was 58 in respective categories.

All the best.

Hello Aspirant,

Since you have not mentioned your category so considering it as General if not then please correct me.

As we go through the latest cut-off of 2020 then it shows that the closing rank for General/Open category was 2070 for Aerospace Engineering branch in IIT Bombay. See it is quite difficult to tell you about exact marks to score because for JEE-Advance no maximum marks are fixed but yes with regards to JEE-Advance 2021 if you secure your AIR in JEE-Advance under top 2050 then there are good chances for you to get Aerospace Engineering branch in IIT Bombay.

You can check out the latest cut-offs from the link given below :-

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

Note that the above prediction is made on the basis of latest cut-offs available on official website of JOSAA or CSAB and the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors such as the number of candidates appearing in an examination, the number of candidates qualifying an examination, difficulty level of the paper, and so on.

Hi,
You should choose stream based on your interest not on their rankings and placements as if your good in your stream then no matter in which college you  definately will get success in life . But if you want to compare then definately opt for iit bombay civil as it is above in ranking and has excellent faculty and infrastructure .
You can click on the college predictor link mentioned below to find a suitable college https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-advanced-college-predictor?icn=QnA&ici=qna_answer

Hello aspirant ,
Without any doubt and questions , just blindly go for IIT Bombay with civil engineering.
It's a more prestigious institution as compared to new IIT Gandhinagar .
Though fees at Bombay is higher but it's worth as it's median salary for civil is just directly 4-5 lakhs more ( per annum ) as compared to that of electrical in Gandhinagar.
Moreover social life will be more fun in city of dreams .
I hope you got my point.

Best of lucks.
Regards
Madhur

The answer is obviously IIT Bombay chemical engineering is far better than IIT Gandhinagar material science and engineering the reasons are following.

The infrastructure available at IIT Bombay is far exceeding than Gandhinagar.

IIT Bombay is well established chemical engineering department whereas material science engineering department IIT Gandhinagar is new.

Even in later stages of your course if your interest deviates from chemical engineering for core courses like material science then IIT Bombay will provide your backup option option in terms of placement is there is more than 80% placement.

if you look at the opening closing rank of both the courses then you can easily spot the difference the closing rank at IIT Bombay chemical engineering compared  to material science and engineering at IIT Gandhinagar.
